It has been the policy of Thunder Party Boat for as long as I can remember to board the client fisherman based on a sign in roster... If you have a " favorite spot " on Thunder you would simply arrive early, ahead of the crowd, sign in and wait for the Captain to call your name in arrival order..Last week that policy abruptly changed in favor of a large group that did not sign in and arrived much later than we three and 5 others...My 2 friends and I drove 4 hours to abide by the " Thunder Boarding Policy ", the fishing threesome will not return, I can assure you...
They caught so many fish, we brought fish back to Ohio. I didn't go personally, but my husband, son and son in law and friend went. They talked about it for days afterwards. The Captain is knowledgeable and helpful. They will even filet your fish for you.
Really nice trip and the Captain can put you on fish. Reservations are recommended. Pack your beverage and food and spend a great day on the Gulf of Mexico. They even filet your catch.
Never had a bad day on the water before?? What a lucky guy or maybe likely a chronic complainer...You won't be missed on the next trip!Capt Mike has an older boat, but comfortable vessel with new power units, equipment that is entirely serviceable and a 1st Mate, Micky, who happens to be one of the hardest working men I've had the pleasure of meeting.People tend to demand too much and give too little in return. Respect given..Respect returned.... need I say moreI enjoyed the day and the comradery, isn't that what its about? One friend on board said "the beauty of the day and the ride alone was worth the money"The Sport is called "Fishing" ...The reward is "Catching".No rewards for Whiners.
I Have made a dozen trips on the Thunder and found both the Capt and Mate very helpful and do everything in there power and skills to but customers on fish . And like all fishing trips every where there are times when fish do not cooperate especially when the gulf temp is in the high eighties, and the air temp in the nintiesI for one will make more Thunder trips..
As an avid angler I fish many types of waters. My experience with the Thunder has always been good. Capt. Mike tries to put you on fish. There are always conditions that the Capt. can not control. The most resent outing, August 19, did not turn up a lot of fish, but the Capt. tried. Two weeks before with another charter the same thing happen. The Gulf waters are unrested this time of year, wait til October. I would go with the Thunder again, a Real fishing boat.
I have been grouper fishing on the Thunder Party Boat for about 5 years now with Captain Mike and his mate Mickey. I get out with them 5 or 6 times a year depending on the grouper season. I have always found the boat to be clean and well equipped. Last year he spent several thousand dollars to replace both of his diesel engines so his clients would have a safe and dependable vessel to go 40 or 50 miles offshore if necessary. The only time I have had a complaint was our July trip of 2013, We stopped in 14' of water where the Cpt. knew there was some grouper. I had an immediate hit and pulled in a 28" Gag. It wasn't 5 minutes later the Cpt had a hit and pulled in a 30" Gag. Talk about taking the wind out of your sails. Keep up the good work guy's, we are glad you are here.
20 of us went on an all day trip and only one keeper grouper all day.. You had to hunt the mate down if you wanted anything. Trash fish and grunts ,and only 6 grunts all day. 2 hour trip out and 2 hours back in . 20 of us at $65 a head for 1 keeper fish. Do the math. It is a wore out old boat and ancient rods and reels. Wasnt worth $20 much less $65. Lesson learned. Wont be goin again and you shouldnt either.. Save your money. A ride on a garbage scow would be a better choice
If you’re in the area definitely do some fishing on the Thunder Party Boat! The captain is very passionate about making sure you have a great time and you catch fish!!! Grouper fishing is one of the most fun fish you could ever catch. Also everyone on the boat was pulling some fish aboard. I’m from New Jersey and I never had so many bites on one trip in my life!!! Very exciting!!
