Love this place. A great place to dive and because it is a flowing spring it does not silt up (gets blown out).Nice dive shop, wish I had spent more time inside.... next time!!Facilities are nice, but looking forward to the campground to finish putting up the grounded dive tables. River had lots of tanins in it but still pretty when looking at the transition of the spring run to the river.
Went with my boyfriend for a single night of primitive camping, found a spot right on the river (no electric sites are right on the water). The property is well maintained and clean but if you see any beer cans or trash it's probably very recent as some of the college groups don't respect the land. Your experience here other than the gorgeous springs will depend on who else is staying at the park. Very popular on weekends with college groups playing loud music and yelling, I'd recommend staying during the week, especially with children. Check out their rentals as well, we got a mask and snorkel for 5$ each and they worked great. Will keep coming back.
Enjoyed a late afternoon scuba dive with a small dive group (pre-planned ). My first visit, and I absolutely loved it. Water is stunningly clear, perfect for anyone with goggles. Diving into the underwater cavern was exciting, though the cavern isn't very large (neither is the spring pool). Nice stairs into water, but prepare for sand from the parking lot to stick to everything!
Well maintained and managed. Camp grounds are well kept and clean. Staff are always really kind and helpful. We arrived Friday night and it was FREEZING! We had a little trouble finding the spot we wanted but when we did everything was fine. We stayed on the water/electric are on #27. Short walk to the River. Very close to the Bathrooms and Bath house. The only thing that confused me was being told to quiet down after 12 by the grounds keeper because his boss's house was close. We were kind of rowdy but there was barely anyone at the Camp, I'll blame it on the Fireball! Overall had a great time. It was my first time camping. I was with my Girlfriend and besides the Freezing temperatures, she like it as well. We were a grou of 6. We did a little fishing, lots of grilling, fire building and overall fun. The last day there on Sunday we rented a couple of Canoes and went into the water. Lots of fun. Definitely looking forward to coming back.
Well maintained and managed. Clean but can get crowded. Staff are always really kind and helpful. A ton of fun as long as it isn't a holiday weekend.
i went scuba diving in the springs water was the clearest water i have ever seen. the lodge is well stocked has anything you need. everything is well maintained and clean including the changing rooms. restroom and showers. the staff is friendly and helpful. if you have ever had the displeasure of diving in lake rawlings, va. this place is the exact opposite. i wish the owners of rawlings could come to ginnie springs to see how a 1st class facility is run.
Contrary to previous reports, this park is very clean kept. Beautiful sites on the water and very friendly staff. With the help of Biscuit, Will, and many others working there, I would definatly return and reccomend to friends. Keep it beautiful, leave only your footprints.
Visited with a group of friends, hired inflatable donut rings and floated down the river. So relaxing and chilled out! There were a group of people with a floating stereo the first time we went down, that was brilliant!Actual spring pools were freezing compared to the summer heat.Recommendations: Bring string or something to tie your group together, the current is deceptively strong. On that note, pay attention so you don't miss the last turnoff and get swept down the river. We had to do some furious paddling.
I stayed here in my RV for two weeks. It was amazing. The people where friendly and treated me well. I took my time to scope the place out ahead of time for dump site access, and picked a good time when the crowds were down to move the RV and dump. Site had electric and good drinking water. Was also able to hang my gear between dives and even had a fire pit and grill. Sure, there were kids tubing and drinking, but no one seemed out of place or rude. The rudest guy I met was actually a father with two small kids. Go figure. Take the bad reviews with a grain of salt. I will be returning. I was skeptical when reading poorer reviews before coming but I kept an open mind and will be returning again and again.
Definitely wouldn't take my young children there, especially near a holiday. It is more for the younger adults who like to drink alcohol. It was definitely laid back and a really neat place.
Ginnie Springs has a plethora of opportunities when it comes to diving. We had two dives and I feel like we just got started. You can free dive, open water dive, cave dive, or just swim and snorkel around. We dove Ginnie Spring then devils ear and drifted back to Ginnie spring with the current in the Santa Fe river. The Springs were crystal clear, 100' + vis. The river was stained and vis dropped to 50' in spots. Temp in the spring is 72 degrees F. There is a full service dive shop at the main office is you need gear. Lots of table,s diver ready stations, showers, and covered pavilions around the main spring. If your considering this trip you won't be upset. It is fantastic. The cost, daily admission is $12 for adults, children 7-14 $3. Divers, Certified cave diver $22, all others $30. Camping adults $20.40, children 7-14 $6. They open at 8 AM.I did not camp YET but the grounds look very nice. We were there on a Saturday 12/6/14 and it was not at all busy. They have tubes to rent to drift the river as well. Water temp was 72 degrees F. There is a playground near the main spring for the little ones. Ginnie Spring has something for everyone. If you love diving or even snorkeling this place is just amazing! The water is so clear and clean and heavenly!! I wish I could have dived further down into the cave because it just seemed so cool! Loved out trip there!
This place has an extremely extensive cave system. Well beyond my abilities but if you're a cave diver you will want to vist this and surrounding areas in Florida. The place is perfectly laid out for divers and is kept impeccable clean. Water is a constant 72 degrees F so plan accordingly. If you're not cave certified you cannot enter without an certified cave instructor. It would be extremely dangerous to enter the cave system without proper training
The hubby and I dove Ginnie Spring and Devil's Eye and will definitely return. Fun, easy, and beautiful dive sites! We went on a weekday and it wasn't crowded at all. A must-do for divers!
More funny to spend a whole day than blue springs, but both are amazing! Rent a kayak or something else to go river down..
