The owner operators were extremely friendly and accommodating. We were treated great. The ride itself was beautiful. Wear swimsuit if you think you want to jump into some of the beautiful clear springs along the way. The 7mile ride was plenty long

I've been to this place twice now, rode both circuits, and each time was a wonderful experience. Not only is the service and everything related to RUM 38 awesome (friendliness, willingness to help, boats, overall positive vibes), the scenery and waterways are truly one of a kind. I've spent a ton of time on the St. Johns, but it can't hold a candle to this waterway. My favorite place on the water :-)

You will be amazed by the friendly folks, the engaging conversation and the amazing art all gathered up in the same place. These folks are our river warriors, fighting hard to keep our river clean and safe. Rent your kayak, grab a ride to the river and just hang out, you will not be sorry you stopped.

Kayak rentals for exploring the Santa Fe River, and an art gallery devoted to the Springs and local artists. Really unique jewelry, art and you can even get your hair done. The owner is a licensed beautician and has a shop on site!

After speaking to so many Americans back here on St.Kitts, many are not even aware of the natural spings in High Springs. So I set out to spread the word, not only about the beauty and the wonder of it all, but the service and attention to detail that Doug, his wife and family pays to every customer. Not only are their boats and Kayaks well kept, but when you enter his reception and shop area you are greeted as if you were there ten times already. The drop off and pick up is swift and on time. The proximity to the springs makes it a very short drive to launch point and in fifteen minutes of paddling we were at our first spring. We ended up paddling spring to spring for 6 hours and loved every minute of it.And there was doug waiting on the other side with his huge smile. Great souvenirs in the shop. The only thing missing is some good old Caribbean Rum, which I will send for him. lol

This was our first all-day canoe trip down the Lower Santa Fe. Doug and Merrillee took fantastic care of us, taking the time to go over the map of all the springs with us so that we could get the best experience possible. Canoe and kayak rentals at Rum 138 are priced affordably. Browse their art gallery for free. Buy framed paintings and professional photographs of the local landscape and springs. If you haven't used with Rum 138, you must.

My wife and I came for our first visit on the July 4th weekend and had a blast. We just recently went for a whole day and we had to give a review. Chris will greet you as you walk up with the biggest smile and Doug welcomes you in as if your family friends. Also if your browsing you'll notice the puppy laying around about. Great location on the corner and pet friendly!!

This small, owner operated, outpost rents kayaks and canoes for half and full day trips down the Sante Fe river. It would be a bargain at twice the price, but if you Google Rum 138 you most likely will find a coupon for half off. The owner, Doug, will personally take you to the drop off point and pick you up on call. (cell service is sketchy w/ T-mobile, so I had to borrow a phone at the pick up point). Maps are provided to show the springs into which you can venture and swim. You may even meet "naked Ed", a local fixture and celebrity, who perches himself up behind a "dais" and will regale you with the area history and "Ed-isms" as long as you care to listen. Anyway, I can highly recommend Rum 138 as an excellent experience.

What a great experience. These people were more concerned with my overall experience than with profiting or complicating their day. From the initial inquiries to the final completion they were friendly, easygoing, and helpful. I would highly recommend this outfitter to anyone looking to kayak or canoe.

You should know that you are in for a treat when the canoe rental place also has a beauty parlor, an art gallery and space for local conservancy groups to meet! Bring an environmentally themed bumper sticker to add to the bathroom walls! We were a family group of seven who decided that paddling the Santa Fe River and seeing its springs would be fun. We were not disappointed and became ensnared with Doug, one of the owners who chatted us up like long lost friends. Connecting with Rum 138 made the day even more enjoyable than we would have expected.Rum 138 is nearly on top of the put in - so it was a short hop to the river and even the drive back seemed quick. The river is beautiful and the wildlife abounds. Our group ranged in age from 9 years to 60+, and we all had fun and did not get tired (the current makes for an easy day). There is one "rapid" which garnered some hoots and hollering. Most in our group went down sideways and got splashed, but you're unlikely to get wet unless you intentionally get out or swim around. Being December, we weren't swimming or looking to cool off.Not a lot of traffic or fishermen on the river section we were on (a large portion of the shoreline is part of the commercialized Ginnie Springs). However, rumor has it that jet skis sometimes zip along it (hard to imagine frankly, but possible).Wholeheartedly recommend Doug and Rum 138 to your Florida adventures and there are terrific restaurants in High Springs proper (or just pick up some fried squash and a caramel shake at Bev's Better Burgers there - throw-back drive thru).

I have known Merrillee and Doug for years. Easy going and fun loving people with a true love for the river and environment. Positive energy and good vibes for your paddle trip.
