I ate at the restaurant which I thought was quite good for "park" food. Service was good. Nice swimming area in a little lagoon with a beach area. Clean toilets. Cost $7 to get in and park. The car park was huge so I imagine it could get crowded at times. Lots of people catching fish.
No better place to take a little relaxing stroll or take a kayak out on the water. Manatees swim all over the bay and the fishing is pretty good. Very relaxing and worth the trip.
Water front park with picnic pavilions, atol beach, covered picnic benches East of Homestead. This place is magnificent during the winter months. Enjoy Florida sun even when the rest of the country is covered in snow. $7.00 car Admission gives you a great deal to enjoy this outside warm wind, peace & relaxation. You can grill hotdogs on any one of the many charcoal grills or enjoy mexican cuisine at the Playa Grill Mexican restaurant on site. Clean & quiet without the traffic and crowds. Truly a gem in South Florida.
We stopped here on the way to the Keys because we could not wait to catch some sun and take a dip. There is a small lagoon here, and it's great to swim around. The beach was wonderful just to take a stroll on, and you can get some great pictures of the ocean, too. This was a very relaxing stop. It does cost $5 per car, but it's worth it because the money goes towards keeping the place in good shape.
Good food and good view of Biscayne bay. The sea breeze is great. The full size friend red snapper was excellent.
We had a nice morning at this place , clean and cute little beach for kids. Great fishing and awesome sunshine.. $5 for parking , cant beat that!
This park is a nice small park with a small man made lagoon/beach that gets water from the ocean through a hole. good for little kids, but very shallow for swimming. It is quiet and you can see Biscayne bay. The restaurant is a bit pricey but convenient if you want to relax by the water while you eat. There are picnic tables. The park needs some TLC. But is relaxing.
What a gorgeous place! Spending a few hours there is like a mini-cruise to the Bahamas without the big price tag. I believe they charge by the vehicle and so we paid $6.00 to enter and brought our chairs and it was delightful. It is also a great place for young children as the inlet is quite shallow. There are shaded areas or you can bring a beach umbrella. There are picnic benches and places to barbeque. The views of the inlet and the ocean are incredibly beautiful. La Playa Restaurant is there for lunch and dinners with a full bar and of course, a gorgeous view. I highly recommend.
Went on my first day there, still a little tired from trip but it was midweek so not too busy, nice relaxing afternoon
We go to the beach. The kids like it. I don't really like the restaurant. The water isn't blue...but it's nice and shallow and always warm. There are lifeguards on duty till evening, and then they make everyone get out of the water when they leave. I like that it's always quiet.
We loved the view and the immediate vicinity ; great sand and water and places to walk to and see . The food was quite good but really our favourite style . However we will be back to eat again .
With the addition of La Playa Grill, this is really a nice little facility. Parking is easy and convenient. The scenery is pretty. It is a good place for young children since there are no waves in the lagoon. The lagoon itself is typical for this area where there are no natural sandy beaches like there are farther north. You can snorkel here and see some fish but the water is not crystal clear like in the Keys. Since it is a lagoon it can be a little murky. This is not Miami Beach but it is a nice local spot.
Bayfront park beach and Marina is a nice place to visit if your not into swimming. Its a man made hole that has a pipe that let the sea water in and keep the critters away. Well, some at least. It has a boat ramp and a new American-Mexican restaurant with a view of the ocean, ooh and the hole in the water.
This is beautiful spot but there was a lot of trash there today. Walking around the grounds the beach area was raked and appeared clean but the grass around was full of beer bottle caps, cigarette butts and trash. I found myself wanting a trash bag to get stuff cleaned up. It was sad to see such a beautiful place ruined by trash. There were three men standing around the beach doing nothing-nobody in water and we were the only ones there. Maybe they could get the place cleaned up. Just a suggestion . . . . . The National Park was much better and CLEAN.
A closed lagoon-type swimming area, a decently kept beach, and a nice place to park, launch and use your boat.
