captain fred's airboat nature tours

It was my dad's 78th birthday and we wanted something exciting but relaxing for him as he doesn't last long walking or standing. He said it was the best birthday he ever had. I echo other's comments about what you see, the knowledge and the picture at the end. Just one word of caution: don't wear earrings or especially hearing aids. Because of the noise that the boats produces at times, ear muffs are provided and worn. However, my earrings kept catching on them. And then my dad's hearing aid from one ear fell out and flew away, along with his hat when he removed the muff. The happy ending of the story (my father's birthday was ruined for us for a few minutes) was that our captain retrieved the hat AND the hearing aid from the "bilge" area of the boat. We have no idea how that luck happened, but we were so happy! What a great birthday for my dad and for the rest of us. Another note: please tip the captains, they do a great job!

We visited today, my husband, our two children aged 4 and 8, my inlaws and sister in law and nephew aged 3.5We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, the lady (I apologise I did not catch her name!) was very informative and gave the children and us the chance to hold her pet alligators, she had a wealth of knowledge and was clearly pasionate about the animals which was lovely. The boat ride was great, we saw aligarors large and small, snakes and an array of beautiful birds in such a wonderful setting. We all enjoyed the experience and would definately recommend it, they even have us a photo momentum to leave with which was a lovely touch.Thank you very much to all the team at captain Fred's :)

We have been on several airboat tours in Florida and Captain Fred's is by far the best. The people are so friendly, the pet alligators are adorable, and can be held and petted before you leave on your ride. The Captain is very knowledgeable about the area, the plants and animals in and around the lake. Plenty of wetlands surrounding the lake for seeing all the animals up close. We saw dozens of alligators, snakes, birds, and flowers. Being centrally located in Florida, Captain Fred's is easily located right off the main highway. It is a great adventure for the entire family and we try to make it an annual tradition. The airboat ride is about an hour and a half and you will spend about half an hour beofre the ride enjoying the pet alligators and hearing all about them. We highly recommend this place! Fun, fun fun!

We made a last minute call to book this as we were traveling on Hwy 27. SO GLAD WE DID! They had room on the next tour for two. This is a down home wonderful little operation that is BIG on information and experience. There was 30 minutes of teaching and holding the pet 2-3 year old alligators. Amazing! Never thought I'd be holding and petting these incredible creatures. Cpt Wayne and Lady Bonnie know their stuff and are very willing to share. We then went out on the airboat for an hour touring the lake and swamp and finding gators, birds, and watching the bald eagle pair with their young but large eaglet. What a thrill. The airboat ride was super too! SO WORTH IT!!

We called ahead and reserved our spot for an afternoon ride. The info session before we left was awesome! So hands on, my son got to hold Victor and Trixie the entire time. The ride with Capt Wayne was such a great time. We were out for over an hour and saw so much!! Birds, gators, snakes, snails, bald eagles. I can't say enough how great of an afternoon we all had. I recommend this tour to anyone!!!!!!! Price was great and we all had a picture of us on the air boat awaiting on our return.

Half of our group of 6 had never taken an airboat ride in Florida before so we chose from TripAdvisor. The ride was a little over an hour around the lake...through all kinds of swampy stuff. I especially enjoyed the ride through the reeds. Saw alligators of all different sizes and lots of birds. Our captain knew the names of the birds.We were also able to hold a pet alligator they owned.Well worth the money.

There were 4 in our group and it was our first time ever on airboat and holding gators. This was so enjoyable for all of us. We loved interacting with Trixie and Victor. We learned so much from Gator Bonnie. Captain Wayne was very entertaining and informative while guiding the airboat thru the lake's grassy areas. Saw 3 small gators and lots of different birds including bald eagles and baby. I had investigated other airboat nature tours in the Central Florida area and none compared in price or length of tour. Well worth the $40 per person. You even get a picture/calendar of you and everyone on your airboat with captain. Loved it and highly recommend Capt Fred's.

This place was fun and informative. Captain Mike was our guide, he was very knowledgeable about the whole tour with interesting facts. We held little gators and learned about how they grow and what they do. great for the family.

This is the 2nd airboat ride I have taken in Florida. The other was awesome scenery but we didn't see any wildlife. This one we saw tons of wildlife (5 gators, bald eagles and a nest, lots of different birds, and other critters). They have 3 pet little gators that you can hold, and the ride is 1 1/2 hr long. Captain Wayne definitely knows his nature facts! The boats are small so you get a very personalized experience. That is the reason we chose this one to begin with because we didn't want the 30 passenger huge touristy boat. Would definitely recommend them to anyone! It is very safe also.

My husband and I, daughter, son in law and grandson enjoyed a personal airboat ride on Friday, February. 13. What an enjoyable experience! We learned a lot about gators, met 2 small gators, pretty tame, held them and learned many details about gators before our ride. Our captain, Wayne, then took us for a one and a half hour ride on Lake Hamilton. Beautiful sunny day but a bit on the chilly side. Wayne even provided extra jackets for our comfort. We saw several gators in the wild, from big to little ones, several snakes, and lots of birds including bald eagles! Wayne was very knowledgeable about the wildlife, and knew exactly where the animals would be. I highly recommend Capt. Fred's for a unique experience in Florida. We were even given a free photo of our family on the boat.

Visiting the area with friends and came upon this Airboat/Nature tour and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a little adventure. You will learn lots about alligators in a 30 minute presentation where you actually get to hold and play with 2 young alligators. The airboat captain was extremely knowledgably on the plants and wildlife we encountered on the trip. Very enjoyable day trip.

Very educational & just plain fun. I'm no longer terrified of alligators! About 2 hours of enjoyment. I would recommend for (kids of) all ages.

A brilliant informative airboat ride on The Lake with information about the fauna flora birds and animals. Very knowledgable Capt. Fred, and afterwards a brilliant session with Victor, Trixie and crocy and Mrs Capt. Fred, who talked all about Alligators and their habits and abilities. Never thought I would enjoy cuddling an alligator. A wonderful souvenir of the trip to boot.
