One of the favorite hobbies that my wife and I have is to go to microbreweries when we go on trips. So when we were in Orlando recently, we looked up nearby places on Google maps and found this place just a little ways out. And they did not disappoint! They have some of the best brews that we have tried recently. The wait staff were super-friendly, and even the owner/brew master took time to talk with me and answer all my questions. They also carry a ton of other beers just in case you want something different. Not sure why you would because they are doing a great job with their own. The only problem we had was finding a parking spot since they were pretty busy the night we went there. But overall, if you enjoy a good beer, put this one on your list!
Dropped by to check this place out and were pleasantly surprised. Neat layout, all the craft beers you could think about trying. Bartender very helpful and we enjoyed what we purchased and brought home. Will definitely go back with friends.
Since I live in the area, I am spoiled by being able to visit quite regularly. They just opened at their new location, which is a work in progress. By no means is it dirty, cluttered or unattractive. The bar is a cool modern piece with the brewery as a backdrop. The gleaming stainless steel tanks are seperated from the bar by glass, giving patrons a view of the great beers they craft there. If you have a party of 10 or more, there is the ability to have a private table in the brewery itself for a reasonable rate. Staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. They will be introducing local artists who can sell their media from the walls. Not only do they create their own beer, they have an extensive selection of other fine craft beers, in addition to guest taps. If you are in Longwood and thirsty, this is a MUST stop! for you.
The place is nicely laid out with new tanks being installed. The disappointment is that the tanks were not operational so the variety of brews was limited. The four brews were good and the best one was like key lime pie....yep you heard that right! I plan to go back and give it another swirl
We are big beer fans and always try to visit local breweries whenever we visit a new place. we are for the most part used to larger craft breweries that bottle and distribute their beers. We did a search for local breweries and Hour Glass popped up. We went to the brewery which was easy to find and located in a small building with a spa. I'm not going to lie, it was a little rough looking on the outside, very small almost the size of a large shed and we almost didn't go in. So glad we went in. We were greeted by a bartender who we later found out ran the whole business with another guy who we saw a few times during our visit. The place is small and only had 3 of their own beers on tap as well as at least 7 or 8 guest taps and a huge selection of bottled beer that is obscure and hard to find as well is great. Between the two of us we tried all three of the beers that hourglass brews and they were all great. The butternut squash beer was unique and amazing, the IPA was hoppy and everything you want in an IPA and the stout was wonderful as well. The bartender was a very nice guy who chatted with us the entire time we visited and even had a few drinks with us. The place is decorated with unique artwork and the artists name is featured as well, when we asked about this we were told that the partners of the brewery were both artists and like to support local artists. Each month they feature the art work of a new artist and sell their art without receiving any commission on the art work. They also sell, tee shirts, glass wear and dog treats. I would absolutely visit this brewery again next time I'm in town, can't wait to see what's on tap next time.
This review should have been written a long time ago. I love coming to the Hourglass. The bar staff is welcoming and the brewers are nearly always available to talk to and exchange ideas with. If you're a Budweiser/Miller/Coors drinker and expect to have that, don't go. If you want to expand your horizons in beer, or just talk with a stranger, this is the place to go.Expect a fart or penis joke. Those are as easy to come by as a good beer or good conversation.
A friend recommended this place. If you like tasty beer you'll like this place!! It's small but the beer is great. I always start with a 5 piece sampler then move on to a pint (or two). I think my favorite is the Brown Beer but I also like the 5:30 IPA. They had a beer known as Bellstruck. This came in at a heady 11%. When I tried it I couldn't tell it was 11% - this is either a good thing or a bad thing depending upon your viewpoint!!
