Age 67, 9 handicap - Played this course for the first time recently and enjoyed the round. Provides challenges with tree lined fairways and fast, true greens. Fairways are reasonably generous and in good condition. Speed of play was good at a little over 4 hours. One small nit is that they do not provide range balls and its a short aqua range that you cannot warm up with your driver on. I'm a bit spoiled playing mostly at Sarasota National that provides a complete practice area, ice and water machines, and excellent coffee in greens fee. With a Troon Card the cost runs $58.00 all-in vs. $72.00 for somewhat less at Calusa Lakes.

I like Calusa lakes. It is well-maintained, the staff is friendly, and the prices are reasonable. It offers late afternoon golfers the option to carry or pull cart their clubs. I like this, as I like to assess my spots as I walk towards my ball, and I like the extra exercise. Also the late afternoon rate is inexpensive, and is reduced as the "season" draws toward the end. They have a nice pro shop, and a nice 19th hole restaurant. They are part of a set of three clubs owned by the same people: Calusa, Capri Isles, and Waterford.

Calusa Lakes is a semi-private club just north of Venice FL. The staff, especially Walt in the Pro Shop and George the Starter is friendly and welcoming. The course is in good condition, considering the drought Southwest Florida is experiencing this year. All in all, just a good time and we will be back!

Played Calusa Lakes for the first time and a very nice golf course. In great condition - fairways & greens. Nice layout with some challenging tight tee shots. For $45 with Big Summer Card in December, you cannot go wrong with that - Very Good value given some of the prices being quoted by other courses.Pace of play was excellent as well - no 4 1/2 hour rounds here!

When you play golf in Florida around December, there are usually a few problems... First, the amount of golfers on the course can have you waiting on tees.Second, the large amount of golfers results in courses not being in the best of shapes and finally and most importantly the cost.Calusa Lakes Golf Club broke all the myths in one swoop. The course was in magnificent condition, the fairways were beautifully kept, the greens, some of the best i've played on.We never had to wait on ANY tee box which was a massive bonus and then there's the price. At $50 AM and $40 PM (I paid $35 with a BigSummerCard) this was fantastic value and would recommend this course to anyone. The only downside to this course is the 'iron only' rule on the driving range but i will be visiting again very soon..
