There is a Board Walk from the Parking to the Beach. Along the way there is a Nature Center with shop and restrooms on the way. For those who would prefer not to walk over the water there is a taxi (cart) available. We liked the views and the beach which was very busy when we visited.pore
My husband and I enjoy walking and this was a nice place to walk. There is a nature trail and a boardwalk that goes over the water to the beach on the other side. You can rent kayaks or just relax on the beach. We had a pleasant afternoon.
We loved the walk to the beach on the board walk across the water. Also enjoyed our guided nature walk and the snake talk. The park itself is beautiful and a great place to spend time. If you are a kayaker you can rent a kayak, etc. and go exploring on the water.
Great beach! Excellent opportunities for exploring quiet water areas by kayak. Possibility of good birding & manatee sightings. Known for turtle nesting sites.
This is a must visit when in the area. See Florida at it's natural state. Go for a ride on the river, take a trail for a great hike.
We visited this last week. It was chilly but who cares when you come from New England! The main thing is that the staff in the center were awesome, enthusiastic and really seemed to enjoy what they do. The area is clean, there are restrooms. What cool wildlife! The brochures are good too. For $5, not to be beaten. Wish it was warmer (for me) to kayak!
I was in Palm Beach Gardens for a conference and simply had to see the ocean. I did some searching and found the park. They have a great website that shows all you can do. I wanted to kayak, but the weather was poor earlier in the day and I didn't have enough time to completely enjoy it, but it was easy to find, a small fee to enter via car, and a beautiful walk to the beach.
We enjoyed kayaking around the islands on the intracoastal. Interesting juxtaposition of mangrove wildlife and florida development. We did not see the shark, but others did.We took the golf cart across the bridge to the beach. Here the views were of sea, reef and dunes..a real pretty natural beach. We saw a manatee in ocean.Nice gift shop with incidentals you might have forgotten. Clean bathrooms. Shaded nature trails.Park staff and volunteers were happy and enthusiastic. A very happy place.
I came here for a geocaching event. The park rangers were friendly and that park was clean. My dog and I enjoyed hiking the trails over the weekend.
Kayak, swim in the ocean, picnic in the park, hike the covered trail, view the exhibits, relax on the white sand beach, learn from a park ranger; checkout the gift shop, mix and match for all ages and levels. Fun full or part day, highly recommended.
We had hoped to enjoy the entire experience at this "rustic" park. Unfortunately, since we came equipped with a dog, we were unable to trek out to the beach and use the causeway. I'm sure there are reasons and I'll respect that. Fortunately there were several areas that we could go to with our dog and still get a nice feel for the park.
While there are some parks are are overrun with tourists and tourist gimmicks, not so for John D. MacArthur Beach State Park. Instead, the park is sprawling, rustic and wonderful. We've been a number of times, bringing guests with us just because we love it so much. It is a great place for a picnic, too. Lots of picnic areas that are semi-private and natural. The walk along the boardwalk, flanked on both sides by a huge lagoon is the stuff that dreams are made of. Take your time and enjoy the view. Lots of terrific bird life, too. And, the pot of gold at the end of the walk is the most beautiful ocean beach ever. Rustic, uncluttered with too many tourists and sand that enables you to walk ... and walk. On the occasional Sunday, we've even taken in the bluegrass music. And though we haven't had the chance, we hear there is music 'under the stars' during some evenings. For those seeking Mickey Mouse, huge crowds or the hustle and bustle of massive shopping malls, you won't find any of that here. But what you will find is nature at its finest and a grand opportunity to be razzled and dazzled by the best Mother Nature has to offer.
Liked the area not far from our hotel at the Marriott clean and quite beaches lovely walks just had a great day out thanks
We happened upon this gem of a park while driving south on Singer Island with a couple of hours to spend and no specific plans in place. We made the snap decision to pay the reasonable $5.00 admission fee and were glad we did.We first visited the nature center and viewed an excellent orientation film that explained the importance of preserving the dunes and natural vegetation. We then walked through the park and across a low bridge that traverses the 1/3 mile wide estuary. Once on the other side, we walked to a beach overlook and were able to take in a beautiful coastal view from a bench. There were quite a few people enjoying the beach, though red and purple warning flags kept them from the water. We were not equipped for the beach and after a relaxing few moments, moved on to a walking trail that passed under the canopy of trees and coastal vegetation. Many significant plants were marked for identification. There is a tram that provides transportation from the nature center to the other side of the bridge for people who need it.All in all, it was great and unexpected way for us to spend a couple of hours seeing the natural Florida sea shore in a way that survives almost nowhere else.
We spent Christmas morning on a walking tour with an excellent guide, Marty Fleisher. Marty was extremely knowledgeable, providing lots of interesting information on the plants and animals as well as answering our many questions. We were especially fascinated by everything he told us about the sea turtles. The beach in the park is beautiful.
