My family stopped at the Bronson-Mulholland house and received a personal tour of the home and the small museum located next door. The docent was quite knowledgable of the local history and was very willing to answer our questions, too. The home is open to the public Thursday-Monday and takes less than an hour to tour.
We had to learn more about Palatka, so we head to the Oldest standing plantation in the area. Wow, you just can't live long enough. I won't tell you what the history is because I don't to spoil it for others, but I was left wondering about how Florida would have been if certain events had not happen in Palatka!
an interesting place to visit if you are in the area. Easy to find, plenty of free parking, and tour guides inside. I believe it is a donation site- not a fixed charge to get in. it is an old antebellum house from the 1800'3. Very well maintained & decorated true to the period.next door on property is the Palatka Museum, also a must see.Worth the trip.
Love looking at old Florida and wondering if I could have done it back then. The guide was great and very knowledgeable even though he was from Ohio. Love the way the bottom floor windows were made to raise the window open the bottom and let the fresh air in. Furniture is from the period but not from the original home. There's a small museum next door with all kinds of interesting stuff. Love the wicker chair and the way it looked. Would have like to see the house when it stood alone on the banks of the river.
My husband and I have been enjoying day trippin from our Central Florida home and today's adventure took us to Palatka. We love all the history, cultural and nature that communities, like Palatka, have to offer. We especially loved the tour and information about Palatka that our tour guide, Jeremy, provided us today. What an amazing young man with incredible love and passion for his hometown. The tour of this historic home and the museum were so enjoyed and cherished with the knowledge shared of, not only the beautiful home and residents that lived there, but of the town of Palatka, too! Because of Jeremy we are excited to return for future visits to the area! Many thanks for a wonderful day!
