I had a wonderful experience at ATA Flight School from the moment I walked in to the moment i walked out. I booked a Romance tour with Champagne for my boyfriend and I for our anniversary and we were able to fly down Miami Beach during the sunset which was so BEAUTIFUL!!! We got to fly down South Beach, Key Biscayne & Downtown Miami and I took over 100 photos... It was amazing! The staff was very warm and welcoming... It is a family owned business and they treated everyone there like they were part of the family. The owner Mike made us one of the best cappuccinos I ever had and he showed me how to make it :) The pilots were very professional and well dressed. The tour pilots are flight instructors so my boyfriend got to sit up front and learn how to fly the plane! After the flight we got to take a couples photos in front of the airplane and we also got to take a picture with the pilot! Great Experience and I highly recommend taking the sunset tour!

Booked this to try out flying. The man that answered the phone was talking to other people while I was asking him questions. They sent me a confirmation with the wrong person's name on it and all thier information. I called to cancel the reservation the following day and the same man, Mike, told me that he would cancel it, but I need to call back tomorrow afternoon to ask for a refund because the only person who does refunds was not there today and he hung up on me. So I called the next day and Mike told me that it was too late in the day and that the person who does refunds was gone already, so he told me I needed to call the next day. I called the 3rd day and he said the guy wasn't there yet. I explained I had called for 3 days straight, then he took the 10 seconds to do the refund. I am glad I cancelled this reservation. If thier customer service and organization is any indication of thier flying instruction, I would not feel safe at all.

I gave a Christmas gift to my husband & son, as I thought it would be a fun adventure for them. The equipment on the Cessna is quite old: seat cushions torn, sea belts and doors coming apart. Instruction or "briefing" totally lacking and pilot said virtually nothing during the very short flight: it's not even a half hour between take off and landing. I paid $183 (for a 40-min flight my husband, son, taxes, gratuities)directly to ATA flight school, (not third party) and was told by the director, Mike, of academy it would be "an incredible experience we won't regret." I thought it would be a great experience, given Miami's gorgeous coastline and viewing it from the air.Since my husband was at the controls, flying (focused)he also was unable to really enjoy the sights below especially that the ride was so brief--20 mins. This "discovery flight" Is a real ripoff, as I won't recommend it and surely not with this school. I' sure there're other options in FL. If you want an aerial experience and still choose to fly with ATA you should agree ton package and time in the air before you make payment.

This flight was a birthday gift for my wife, and I went along for the ride. The owners, staff and pilot were GREAT ! Very informative, friendly and know what their business. It was a good 1/2 hr flight, with my wife at the controls most of the time. I highly recommend anyone interested to give them a try, you won't regret it !!!!

Unlike Pilot271 I will put my name out there for folks. I was a student at ATA Flight School and found them to be adequate, safe & well versed. The planes used are "TRAINING AIRCRAFT" and as such maybe their cosmetics aren't up to par. But the aircrafts ARE flight-worthy and safe. Folks….these are Moreover, ATA maintains a quality, well managed Maintenance facility with FAA certified mechanics. Both A&P & IA mechanics take a proactive approach to safety of each plane, making sure that each A/C is SAFE to fly. Every “Squawk” is taken serious. I have flown at various airports in the area and have more than enough flight schools at my disposal. Yet I return to this school time & time again. The reason? The attitudes towards safety, student achievement goals & overall social environment at ATA make it a great place to learn & experience the sheer joy of flying.Personally, I take exception to Pilot271. And I encourage all those who read this post to:1. Evaluate the credibility behind one who "Hides" behind anonymous accounts. Usually these turn out to be nothing more than personal attacks upon an associations &/or companies. There is not a company on the face of the planet who hasn’t had some sort of “issue” in dealing with clients. However, how that company addresses these issues is what defines it. From first-hand experience I can say that ATA Flight School yearns to “Do the Right Thing”.2. Come to ATA Flight School and learn for yourself that ALL instructors & tour guides are indeed FAA certified with a combine total several thousands of hours of both flying & flight instruction. Finally, don’t take my [or Pilot271] word for it. Stop by ATA and meet the folks there. Who knows, maybe you’ll be able to experience what Amelia Earhart once said:“Flying might not be all plain sailing, but the fun of it is worth the price.”
