Went on the day cruise and had a GREAT time!! It was a really fun way to spend the afternoon. Dolphins swimming along side the boat, beautiful relaxing view! Also the staff and crew were very friendly and helpful. Love the video poker machines!! I always have a good time when I go, and that's the whole point. I will be back! :)
You really have to be kidding with this new venture. We have enjoyed the Sun Cruz Casino boat in the past, despite antiquated slot machines. This "new" Tropical Breeze was anything but. First of all, they never explained the "offer", or lack thereof when you paid $8. to board. We did get a coupon for 1 free cocktail and were told we could buy lunch on board. Getting on the boat, we were surprised to find that this was no longer a shuttle out to the casino ship, but where we would gamble for the trip. The boat left at 11:20, due to the tides. We did not get out into international water to gamble until almost 1 o'clock. Almost 1 hour and 45 minutes. Since I usually play a poker machine, I find out there were only 6 onboard, one of which was out of service! I ordered a cheeseburger for lunch, and it took 50 minutes to arrive. Paper thin and dried out. the seagulls wouldn't even want it. Oh, and one of two stalls in the ladies room was out of service. Gross! The boat started back at 4pm and we did not arrive on the dock until after 6 pm! Yikes! What a horror! Party of five, and no one even won a buck! Save your money! This was a disaster!
We went out on the Tropical Breeze a couple of weeks ago and had a great time! Drinks were very cheap compared to hard rock, $3.00 for a 16oz can of Budweiser and $3.00 for a Rum and coke. We had delicious cheeseburgers with chips for $5.00, Can't beat that anywhere! The slot machines are great, My wife hit a $1500 jackpot! We really like the ticket in and out system. All of the employees were happy and very nice. We will always choose to go on the boat over going to the Hardrock!
I love to gamble and it was amazing compared to the old boat! No more coins!! All tickets! Gambling and bud light along with the beautiful view of the ocean! Who can complain!
We have gambled out on the Suncruz casino boat about a dozen times in the past. Never expecting anything grand as its an older boat but you are out there to gamble and that's what the original ship provided. A sizable amount of space for slot machines and table gambling alike, with a variety of machines to play on. You also received Free $5 match play Free food item and complimentary beer, liquor and wine while you were gambling-you know Vegas style. This was all for the low cost of only $5 to enter. We hadn't been on the boat for about a year and were looking forward to avoiding the drive and craziness of the Hard Rock Casino in Tampa. We were surprised that the entrance fee went up to $8 with none of the above mentioned freebies instead to accompany the upcharge we were given a coupon for 1 free drink! That's right, no more free drinks. We were going to leave but the employee explained its because they have a new ship and its more expensive then their previous run down one we were use to. So in hopes of a new shiny boat to spend the next 4 hours on we paid the fee and took the water taxi. The new ship is less then half the size of the original with literally not enough room for 2 people to pass each other in any one area. The variety of slots were down to 5 different types of machines with about 75% of what was their being the same type of machine over and over again. The best part was the tiny little bar where you had to now purchase your drinks at $3 each only because of the friendly bar tender, and the top open deck where you could escape the tight quarters and very warm temperatures.
Wanted to take this cruise for a couple of years. Finally went out and first of all found out that the ship was a much smaller one than they used to use. Not enough interest I was told by a person that worked there. Thank god there was a limit of 125 people and only 60 some went on board. Very, very, crowded and smokey. If you don't smoke stay away. Very old slot machines most of them the same and printed tickets but could not put into machine after that. Had to cash in and use the cash. Old old ship, dirty, smokey, unappealing and uncomfortable. Certainly not what we expectted for sure and will not return or recommend to anyone. I felt sorry for a couple of handicaped people as they had a very hard time getting around. Probably shouldn't have gone anyway. Very rocky and noisy boat. I can see why not many people go on this casino cruise. Sorry, very bag!
We had the honor of being on the "new" boat. Peeling paint, dirty, looked like it would fall apart. Staff was rude because everyone complained. Most of Machines are broken or broke if you used them. Payouts (small ones) where in voucher form that none of the machines took vouchers so you has to go to the cashier everytime. When you play 9 lines the machines only count 5 lines so winning go unrecognized. On the boat ride back I asked every person I could (20 people)if they had fun. Not one said yes. They all said "I will never come back."
I took my third trip with Sun Cruz in January, 2015 and it will be my last!! They now have a “new” Casino boat. The boat is small, cramped and has a horrible choice of slot machines. You can’t even walk down the aisle without bumping into another person. People with walkers are doomed on this casino boat. Match play, early week promotions (web site still shows they have the promotions) and a free sandwich no longer exist with the boarding fee. Cashing in tickets prior to the return trip is absurd. No line can be formed and you are literally shoulder-to-shoulder with guests trying to go back downstairs. I talked with several people and none said they would ever come back. They also said that they would fight the horrible traffic in Tampa to go to another casino. I e-mailed SunCruz voicing my opinion and they never responded. Not a great way to run a business. Word of mouth advertising is the best (and worst) in my opinion. Ownership made a HUGE mistake by not renovating the old boat in lieu of purchasing this new one.
What used to be an experience that rivaled a trip to Vegas has deteriorated to a nasty tourist trap. A few years ago boarding was free. you were given a $10 match play or $5 free tokens, a coupon for a meal, a coupon for a free drink, beer and drinks were free while playing. Now: $10 boarding fee and Match Play/ free tokens. The food over the past few years has become inedible, Imagine a bag lunch for a second grader-store brand hamburger bun, slice of process am cheese, slice of ham, kiddy bag of chips (4 or 5 chips in a bag-where do they buy these?)--they valued this at $6. You are not allowed to bring your own food on the boat. Several years ago they had top shelf liquors and choice of beer and wine this devolved to cheapest generic bar brands liquor and natural light on tap. Now they are charging for drinks. The boat used to be a lot of fun even the trip home was good with Kareoke and a full bar open on the trip back. Now they have moved their operation to a smaller vessel--I have wondered for years how they stayed in business as the experience kept getting worse. I suppose they have enough diehard gamblers and new visitors to pay the billsUnless I hear about changes for the better, I would recommend avoid this "dive boat"
old boat was not the best. new boat is a joke!!!the shuttle is bigger than the new casino boat. very little room on boat.you have to squeese around machines, and people. If you use a cane or walker don"t go.they will not honor you old tokens. no ac ,and smoke was terrible!! i have been going since 2001 with friends. would be embarrased to bring anyone now. first and last trip on new boat. you just lost some good customers with your poor casino and service
Too bad this place has completely gone to hell. Not that it was fantastic before but this was pitiful. The shuttle left 20 minutes late. There were more employees than customers on the early shuttle. My wife and I like to go out a couple times a year. (Used to be more often....but conditions have deteriorated so much that going on the Suncruz is kinda like eating that last hotdog at 7-11 which has been rolling over and over for two months in that heat thingamabob.) I am not writing this review because I lost a lot of $$$. Actually won $200 but at least 1/4 of the machines are broken and no one seems to care. Most employees were rude or trying but owner doesn't care. If someone had the $$$ this could be a gold mine and a great place to bring family and friends visiting. STAY AWAY! This place advertises like its Las Vegas on the beautiful Gulf Coast but it's more like a downtown Detroit package store than anyplace you would want to bring anyone you know. If you still decide to go bring a 5 gallon bucket of hand sanitizer and have your spouse poor it on you and set you on fire. Enough Said.
anything that was free but the waste of time is gone , boats breaking down all the time, Boat never arrives back at the dock at the posted time or even close to the time.I have seen 3rd world counrties run better. The best thing the group can do is closed the doors and go home - what a joke
They Said because of Fuel Cost, and Now Fuel Is cheeper Than 6-7 years ago. $2.39 Gallon. It's just a matter of time this place closes. No more free drinks, no free meal, they are only using 60% of the blackjack shoe before they start the next shuffle. Took the Tv's off the boat so you can't watch the game on anymore. then the slot machines takes forever to find a machine to take your money. I asked why they weren't taking my money. the response I got was. well at least your saving money. that was my last time going. I hope this warns people thinking of going out on this old worn out boat.
To say the least , just terrible. No management, only one tech slot tech & he quit, Have to pay for your trip out to the boat ( $8.00 ), one free drink, you have to pay for a sandwich, minimum slat pay offs ( if you happen to hit a lucky streak ) And last, using their Global Check Cashing System is a rip off, cash a $500 dollar check out the on 30 November & I discovered I was charged twice, $1100 dollars & I still have not been able to contact anyone to get my $530 dollars back. So, beware....
The sign out front said something like "Vegas Style Casino" or something like that. Well I have been to Vegas many of times and that is the most horrible description for this boat. Lets compare shall we:1. Free Drinks in Vegas..... 2 dollars for a sip of beer on the boat2. Clean.... This boat is DIRTY3. Machines are newer in Vegas..... I am pretty sure i played the same slot machines in 1975 that were on the boat. 4. Clean people in Vegas.... I thought I was on a charter boat for fishing and the crew had not showered or even brushed their teeth for a month on the boat. 5. Vegas 1987654 people on a Saturday Night.... 40 people on this boat.6. Tables for everyone to be able to play in Vegas.... They had 2 BJ tables and a roulette table open and all were packed, got the voucher to play on the tables and for 3.5 hours, couldn't even get on a table so that was wasted. So in closing, this was the most falsely advertised, waste of 5 hours I have ever spent. I actually won money on the outdated slot machines BUT fun is a factor as well and there was NONE OF THAT.
