Again advised birds here, but camping and playgrounds with small dirty beach. Another disappointment, 1 Osprey fishing and 1 Blue Heron spotted during the 1 hour visit.
Loved all the access for water. Wish we had brought our kayaks!Had lots of little shelters with picnic tables along the waterways.Easy parking. Great place for a picnic.
I am not a camper. Those camp people seem to have plenty of room at their sites. There seemed to be a nice mixture of diesel pushers and small tow behinds. It is a nice place to fish or just walk around. The beach is alright, but far from pristine. There is a very nice view of Tampa and St Petes from the beach. The park is clean and security is good. A nice family place to spend the day. Plenty of covered eating areas and BBQs. A two dollar admission per car.... cheap and good value
this place is very good priced to camp esp if you have a big RV. We had a tent and the sites work for those also. You should call first. Also only show up during open hours because they have a security gate which is nice for safety. very spacious for camping or enjoying the park. They have clean bathrooms and great hot showers...water and electric at all sites.Seniors pay less. The staff were real helpful on sites and openings. There isnt a whole lot out here but you can go to a grocery, McDonalds, restaurants, gas not far away.Farther from any attractions.
Since we had never camped at this park before, we called to get info. We found they do not take reservations. Nothing was said about times when they might be more likely to be full, etc. We drove over an hour pulling a large camper to arrive around 9 a.m. on a Wednesday morning only to find they were completely full and had a waiting list. Wish they had told us before we came that there was a great chance they would be full before we arrived or wish they entertained reservations to avoid this problem.
We've been there several times to walk the poodles. Apollo Beach (where we usually go) is closed for renovatons this season. Admission is only $2.00/carload. The dogs can go anywhere but the beach as long as they are leased. Lots of walking areas, rest rooms, tables, etc.. Except for the camping area, the park is relatively deserted.
A lovely place in Tampa Bay Area worth the 2 $ even for a short visit. Birds, mangroves, a small beach to collect shells, plenty of pelicans, perfect for sunset.
2 dollars to enter and plenty of parking and playgrounds. The only thing I see is the beach needs to be combed. But, all and all great and clean restrooms, we will be back next weekend!!!
This park is a true gem on on Tampa Bay for camping, walking, fishing, picnicking or just enjoying nature. The only downside to this park is that it costs $2 per visit but this is little in comparison to spending time in this wonderful park. Great kids playgrounds and short hiking trails. Covered picnic areas, many shade trees and lots of nature around the inlets and on the Bay shore.
Very nice campground! A hidden jewel that has lots of spaces and friendly staff!Lots to do here, and very handy to town if u need something. We will most certainly stay here again!
This is usually a good park for fishing and doesn't get overly crowded. It was a boat ramp, picnic pavilions and a beach. Beach is not great. But the fishing areas are good.
My boyfriend and I love this park for camping. We live in Ellenton (30 minutes south of Ruskin) and come out here all the time for a quick getaway. The bathrooms are always very clean. You can fish right from your campsite if you are on the water. The views are breathtaking, especially when looking out at St. Pete and Tampa!!! Only drawback to this park is the mosquitoes, no-see-ums and the raccoons!!! If you are tent camping, make sure to put your cooler in the car or tent because those raccoons are very smart and crafty!!!
This is a very nice state park that hosts lots of events, The park is clean and large. It is located on the water, The fees are very reasonable.
Have stayed here before, this time in June 2014. Mosquito's and no-seeums ( Very small biting flying bugs) were very thick with swarms of mosquito's in all bathhouses, could not stay outside during or after sun set. Only 30 amps and water but you have wide dirt/sand/grass lots that you can drive into to give you a super view of the mangroves and water cutout used for boat docking. The park also has covered large picnic tables down by the boat ramp along with small piers for fishing.
We stayed nearby at Harborside Suites, kept trailer attached and launched easily for a great day on Tampa Bay. Sadly, we didn't find a sand beach besides the one by the hotel. Looks like a great place to fish!
