Excellent displays, tours, The history of Mel Fisher is wonderfully told throughout the museum. Its not expensive to get in. Its also a wonderful way to spend a morning or afternoon in Sebastian. I was amazed at the amount of treasure discovered and to know that is probably much more out there around those reefs.

Nice displays with a wide variety of treasures/artifacts from several shipwrecks. Found coupons for admission so wasn't overly pricy.

We visited the museum with our son, it was very reasonable price and full of cool artifacts and history. The intro video needs some updating as it is from the 1980's. If they could put a little money into some renovations and modernization it would be a must see for any visitor

The museum is small and a little shop-worn, with an ancient blurry video to begin your visit, but what a horde of lore! Great story! Makes you want to go out to the beach looking for treasure on your own. The gift shop guy is a trove of info.

A very nice museum that is well organized and with the exhibits well presented. It gave us a nice piece of Sebastian and Florida history and admission was reasonably priced.

Small but full of interesting objects. I loved the gift shop and staff was very friendly and knowledgable.

Fun place to visit and nice people. Went with a group of 6 and they made it fun for us. Will spread the word.

This museum is the result of one man's obsession for treasure. Conveniently located in Sebastian it is an interesting look at the fruits of his exploration. It is very informative and critical to some of the understanding of FLorida roots. A good spot to visit but only if you are on the way.

I'm embarrassed to admit that although I've lived in Indian River County since 1989, only recently did I make it to Mel Fisher's Treasure Museum in 2015 for the first time. Admission for me was only $5. Although it's a relatively small building, it is packed with fascinating displays and articles about the life of the late Mel Fisher and his family. I spent a couple of hours there one Friday afternoon and was genuinely impressed. My tour began with a 20-minute movie documenting some of the major events in Mel Fisher's life. From there, it was a self-guided tour through the museum full of what appeared to be hand-crafted displays. It made me wonder if the family built it themselves, but I neglected to ask that question of Mel's grandson who was manning the gift shop that day.Toward the end of the tour, there is a nautical-style reach-in vault containing a 5-pound gold bar. Museum-goers can reach in and feel the size and weight of the gold, then sign a guest book before moving on to the gift shop. Very cool.In the gift shop, there is a nice variety of educational materials such as books, maps, DVDs as well as clothing items. The most impressive part of the gift shop is the jewelry: large cases full of authentic gold and silver pieces set into jewelry findings as well as beautiful replicas of the same. This place is so unlike the image that most people have of museums! While I recalled multiple TV news stories about Mel Fisher and his battle with state and federal government agencies over his salvage rights, I didn't realize until touring the museum how much his battles with governments helped other treasure salvors. In my opinion, Mel Fisher was a true patriot who lived an amazing and interesting life. The museum is in a great location in the middle of Sebastian very close to the Indian River and easy to find right on U. S. Highway 1, the main thoroughfare. Since the day of my tour, I have already returned once to make additional purchases from the gift shop on behalf of an elderly client who doesn't drive. She needed a gift for a friend who was hospitalized in Germany, but who spends part of the year in Indian River County. She wanted something with a local connection. The key chain, map and laminated book about Mel Fisher's life was, in her word "perfect" - all for around $25.

Love the old feel, local history, and reasonable cost of this place. We always take visiting friends. Combine this museum with the State Park Museum and you'll want to be the next treasure hunter.

This is a very small museum but filled with tons of interesting facts, stories and TREASURES!!! I would recommend to anyone interested in Florida history as well as anyone with children who are always amazed at treasures. The movie is a must so see if you can catch it from the beginning.

My husband loved this place. I found it sort of interesting. Something to do to pass the time. There is a lot of treasure there. It must have been exciting to discover it.

This place is really cool. Lots of artifacts that were salvaged from the Atocha ship that sunk in 1622. You can also buy your very own piece of silver that is over 380 years old.

This little building is full of amazing gold and treasure pulled from the waters off of the treasure coast. Mel Fisher and his family have a marvelous little museum here and their documentation of the treasure hunt is a real piece of Florida History. Definitely visit then head to Squid Lips. Perfect afternoon.

CastleOfVooDoo

Nice stop for anyone wanting to know a little more about treasure hunting and how it's done. Some nice pieces to see. $7.00 per person (adult) watched a video at the beginning.
