Take the time to learn about Stuart, one of the Best local Museums I have visited. Great Gal at the front desk.
I enjoyed seeing many antique items- do not miss the lower level.Great collection of old maps and photos. Some antiques from the local area and displays highlighting early Stuart life.
There is so much to see, whether you choose self-guided or with the help of friendly staff. It was great to see how much has changed around town and how some things haven't really changed that much! The location is perfect, you can have a stroll in downtown Stuart and have lunch!
This little museum does a great job of showing the history of Stuart and Martin County. It is chock full of artifacts that were all donated by local residents. We were lucky enough to have a guide, who knew many of the stories behind the exhibits. If you have a group, a similar personalized tour can be arranged by calling them. As a bonus, their is a free trolley that can take you anywhere in downtown Stuart. The museum is free, but donations are appreciated.
We found the museum by accident online and we're very surprised by what we found. A great history of Stuart and Martin County going back to the late 1800's. A lot to see and you get a real feel for what life was like before the area grew to what it is now.I thoroughly recommend this for all ages!
I had been wanting to come here for a long time, but never took the time; I'm glad I finally did. What a nice museum dedicated to Stuart. It is great to see the history of our little town. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. I spent a long time reading every little thing. I would give your self at least an hour if you really like to read what your seeing.
I recently returned to this adorable museum in downtown Stuart, Florida. As before, it was a wonderful experience. This is an authentic home which has been turned into a museum about Stuart, Palm City, Port St. Lucie and Hobe sound.First of all, it's free. They have a place you can donate to keep it going. I did. Happily. The people there are truly well equipped to handle your questions or take you around on a personal tour. The artifacts are awesome. Photos going back in the 1900's are very interesting. The basement is now open with even more to share with original maps and actual things preserved from many years before.I loved the old soda store replication, the model trains and seeing an original kitchen where you wonder how anything was done!Children may enjoy this too but not very small ones. You'll have to keep an eye on them as there are many things inviting to touch!I would suggest a lunch at the nearby pelican Cafe, or Stuart coffee shop. If you choose a Sunday, the green market is also open. Parking is ample on the streets or in the public parking lot where there's no fee. Of course, a stop at Kilwins Ice Cream is a must.
It was like going back in time to see all the familiar relics from the past. The host was very knowledgeable and I learned quite a bit of Stuart history.
This small museum is chock full of cool photos and local memorabilia, the guided tour narrator was pleasant and extremely knowledgeable about local history as she is a writer and researcher for this museum. I couldn't catch get name but she was great. A nice plus was actually meeting the cheerleader whose chelating uniform from the 1950s is actually a museum piece, she volunteers there i believe her name is Gail. This was a great time and Doug the tour guide for the basement exhibits is very good as well.
We were in town for a very short time. Even though our friends urged us to go to a larger local museum, my husband had seen an advertisement for this museum this is where he wanted to go. The little building is packed with pictures and artifacts. Even a brief walk-through would be beneficial in learning more about Stuart, but we were lucky to have a guide who was born and raised in Stuart. She told very interesting stories and made it all come together real well. It's definitely worth the time to visit. We knew more about the area and its history after visiting this museum and that made us want to learn more about Martin County.
This free museum is worth visiting. It is large enough to give you a feel for a time long gone and small enough to keep you interested. It is worth the visit.
Even though I've driven past here many times I thought it was time to stop in and take a look around, and I was surprised with what I learned about Stuart. The Staff is very helpful and can answer just about any question you can come up with about Stuart.
The Stuart Heritage Museum is housed in the old Stuart Feed and Seed Store. The last time I was in this old building it was still in business as a feed store. Having lived in the area since 1966, I really enjoyed the walk into the past with the displays and the other "old timers" that volunteer in the museum. There is not an admission fee that I am aware of, but a donation is appreciated. Most of the items on display came from local businesses in the area. I particularly liked the old soda station that come from the Rexall drug store. They also have a nice gift shop that contains a variety of unique Stuart gift items, including the collectible Stuart Christmas ornaments.Definitely worth a visit, especially if your are a local.
A great way to get an introduction to Stuart Florida the "Sailfish Capital of the World". You only need an hour or so to get a nice review of our great little town. Don't expect big elaborate displays but our history is authentically displayed.
A trip back in time for those interested in START history. Small fee involved. Person who greeted us was nice. Pleasant place - good idea for older children (no small ones) Lots of stuff to look at!
