Tiny, tiny church...but oh so sweet. Founded my Catholic Spanish missionaries, surrounded by a beautiful park Tip# 1. Free, no admission charge.Tip# 2. Look up!! This tiny church is located next to one of the biggest crosses I've ever seen!! Tip# 3. Take photos;, by the church, you'll look big. By the cross...you'll look oh so small.

This little chapel was so peaceful and quaint. I enjoyed going in and praying. The little garden was also enjoyable with the statues and signs.

We love to visit the Mission and gift shop. This visit we were able to attend Mass in Our Lady of Le Leche Chapel on Friday night - such a blessing and treat on the first Friday of Lent.

I've visited here twice. It is so beautiful. There's not a lot of walking but there are gorgeous water views and statuary and trees. I've seen dolphins, pelicans, herons, egrets and large fish. It is more beautiful it up at night than it is by day and that is saying something.

This beautiful and accessible greenspace allows dogs on leash. We kept our dog confined to the paved pathways in the more manicured part of the area, and allowed him on the grass in the more open lawn areas. On the uncrowded day we visited we all enjoyed a pleasant stroll under the trees, and some lovely views of the water.

We try and go to the church and the grave yard at least once a year and have since 1988. There is something about this place that is so peaceful and serene every visit we notice something we missed before, so many old graves telling so many stories. The graves of the sisters that are surrounded by a small wall near the church...if only they could talk. There have been new archaeological excavations taking place in the cemetery and they speculate they have found a wall belonging to an older church. The chapel is beautiful so simple yet exquisiteWe were delighted to see a Blue Heron which has started eating the fish in the fountain near the church.

This is the site of the first ever Mass in North America in 1565. Beautiful grounds, great gift store, engaging and enthusiastic guides, and ancient cemetery. There is also an ongoing archaeological dig onsite. Worth the visit with free parking and no admission fee!

The mission grounds are very nice and relaxing. The small chapel is beautiful. The small museum (is small) and with the exception of Pedro Menendez's coffin doesn't have a lot to offer. The film at the museum is worth watching to understand the history but is a little "cheesy". The gift shop is very nice. Overall a nice place to visit for the adults but definitely not for younger children.

Historical because of it being where Menendez came ashore 450 years ago, but it's little more than a Roman Catholic Memorial Park to visit today.

We walked all through the shrine and took many pictures. It's so tranquil and peaceful. The grounds were immaculate. Whether you are Catholic or not, this is an experience that you can't miss.

Called the "nation's most holy acre," the mission grounds are the ideal place to sit and collect yourself amid the old trees and tilted gravestones, and look out on the marsh. Or say a prayer in the wonderful, tiny chapel to Our Lady. Candles for your special intentions, to burn in the chapel, are available in the well-stocked gift shop on the premises. Be sure to visit the row of grave markers for the brave Sisters of St. Joseph who came to St. Augustine in the mid-1800s to teach the newly freed black families (children by day, their parents at night). Also on the grounds is a fine, small museum about the site, which is where Menendez first landed with his crew in 1565. The mission is a must-see while in the Ancient City.

My wife loves seeing old missions and this one was in our top 3. So much history, the grounds as very well kep, and the gift shop is great as well

Said it all in the title --- touristy, not much to see, but has historic value if you want to learn about the founding of St. Augustine

We have visited many destinations in Europe and are amazed at the ancient history. America is so young that it’s hard to find historical sites that compare… except for the grounds at the mission. You can stand in the spot where the first Catholic mass was celebrated 450 years ago! The museum has some interesting relics and artifacts as well. Exquisite.
