The people who work there are so fun-loving and were helpful, too. Will always remember using this pier for boat rides.
Friendly service, souvenirs, bird watching, dolphin watching, shell key shuttle, sunset cruise, fishing trip, & just a cool little pier! Merry Pier has it all! Dont miss a chance to visit this pier in Pass-A-Grille & definitely take the Shell Key Shuttle! I also loved just walking along the water & watching people catch fish! We spotted a few dolphins, enjoyed the shuttle, & bought a tee shirt! Staff is friendly & helpful. Overall great spot!
Nice little pier on the Bay Side, and great place to fish or catch a ferry, fishing boat, or book a sunset cruise.
You can rent a rod and reel and a pier pass for about $20.00, and they give you 20 live shrimp for bait. There are many pelicans and egrets that also hang out here. Don't feed them. You can get pretty close to the birds. I think they like to watch us as much as we enjoyed watching them.
Enjoyed sitting and relaxing on the pier by the water while I waited on the Shell Island Shuttle. The small store on the pier had fishing equipment, drinks, and a restroom.
On the inter-coastal, mostly a bait shop, sodas, t-shirts, rent a bike, or go fishing. Been around a while.
Best place to catch any kind of boat or fish from the pier. I did appreciate the indulgent manner of the proprietor when suppling the novice fishermen. We took the Shell Key tour from here, watched the people and birds that hang around. Worth a visit if any of those things are on your agenda.
Being from New England, I really enjoyed viewing the Christmas decorations in SHORTS rather than 10 layers of clothing! The boats at the Pier were decorated and brightly lit. A welcome change from snowy cold weather!
Very friendly community! Bait shop had fresh coffee and tea for sale at a resonable price. Support local firefighters by buying hot dogs and hamburgers.
Being from Nebraska we don't have a lot of piers so when I see a nice long one with a lot of people on it I get really interested. This one was good.
The pier is in a good location for fishing or just viewing and people seemed to enjoy that. The man who seems to be the caretaker was qite nice. Our problem was in trying to book a sunset cruise. We failed twice because there were never enough other people to make it worth their while so we never got to go. Maybe when we're back in tourist season we'll try again.
be sure to visit merry pier. they sell an awesome smoked fish dip and offer fishing charters & a shell seekers trip as well. you are apt to see pelicans & other indigenous birds hanging out on the docks of merry pier.
At Merry Pier, you can take a boat ride to Shell Key; they come back for you 2 hours later (or you can stay longer and catch a later ride back.) They provide umbrellas and a string bag to collect the shells. What I did not expect was the excellent commentary provided by the Guide on the boat. She knew her wildlife! We saw about six pairs of dolphins both going and coming back. I told her I did not particularly want to gather shells but would prefer to watch birds. She pointed me in the opposite direction around the island to see the colony of White Pelicans (hundreds!) They were beautiful. I had a great time on a beautiful day and it was quite reasonable.
We were here for the trip to shell key island. the boat captain was awesome! We got to see dolphins on our boat ride to the island. Great Place!
Renewed several years back, Merry Pier offers a great place to catch the ferry, spend a few minutes after dinner on Pass-a-Grill or start the Christmas lights tour.
