We saw First Date at the JAEB Theatre . A nice setting for this particular show . The only reason we wouldn't rate the evening as perfect is because of the sound - it was difficult to hear the actors . Also , we could not get a taxi following the show . This is a service most theatres provide . The actors , by the way , did a fine job at entertaining the audience .
When we purchased our tickets at the box office; We inquired about dinner. There are a number of different options. We selected the most formal available that evening. We had a delicious dinner followed by attending a great concert "The Hit Men". We would recommend checking out whatever is available when you are in town as there are many different genres nightly.
Great play great place to see it. The Straz Center is always a great place to treat yourself to fantastic entertainment and give yourself a day out.
Drove up from Venice, FL, had dinner, and showed up for the 8 pm show. Unfortunately, I had mistakenly booked the 1 pm show! The staff was very helpful and worked us in, with comparable seats, we very much enjoyed the performance. The venue is easy to get to, convenient to parking and beautiful on the inside. The non-profit Straz Center is worth the drive.
We are spoiled, typically we go to NYC to see our broadway shows. But this time we decided to stay local and saw Book of Mormon at the Straz center. Show was great. Staff was great. And the theater is lovely.
Had THE best time at The Straz last weekend! Finally got a chance to see "The Book of Mormon" and had a truly fabulous time. It was an easy 35 minute drive from Clearwater Beach and the valet parking (a bit high at $17) was absolutely worth it to us. After smiling/laughing non-stop for 3 hrs. we merely had to step out the doors of the theater and our car was right there waiting for us!The theater seats were comfortable with plenty of leg room and drink holders to hold your beverages. Acoustics were great - a really wonderful place to see a musical. Can't wait to go again!
We had some trouble with the seats we had purchased. When we approached the house manager, she immediately picked up the phone to find us more suitable seats. They were perfect and her service was perfect, too.The venue is well laid out. All seating provides a good view on to the stage. We watched "50 Shades the musical parody". The show was well done. An uneasy topic presented in a adult only funny way. Great job.
We were in the balcony for The Book of Mormon. Really good view from up there. Some of the words from the actors were difficult to understand. The place definitely needs more restrooms. Had to go to the lowest floor during intermission and that isn't a lot of time. Couldn't even find a water fountain. Parked at the Poe Garage as recommended and it was convenient, but could be quite a hike for some people.
Saw Book of Mormon, a very funny show may not be appropriate for young children. If y pu arrive offended easily you may not like this show. The venue is very good I was in the highest seats at the far back but the sound and view wereVery good. I have sat in seats as close as 4 rows from the stage and further back, I ha b e not found a ba d seat yet.
Theater had excellent acoustics and seating was comfortable. Plenty of areas to buy drinks. Pleasant staff. Overall excellent experience
We saw the new version of Phantom of the Opera. It was nice but not great. I've seen it a few times in SF, this "new version" is a little different... I don't want to give anything away but if you like the traditional version you may be disappointed with this.
Amazing production. The music, singers, performances, costumes and sets were amazing. The theater is stunning. We had a great time.
We spent New Years Eve at the Straz this year. Every year since we moved to the Bay Area we have been part off the Cloud Club, a subscription level at this theater that brings our community the best of Broadway shows and other entertainment. It's the perfect season ticket for us since our income is limited due to the fact that I am retired and my husband is a teacher. Low prices, HIGH seats. We thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to see these shows affordably. On New Years Eve "Phantom of the Opera" was playing, and it was highlighted by the fact that the audience came dressed elegantly and the theater put on an after-performance masquerade ball. Our best New Year's Eve yet!
My husband and I went to Straz to see Phantom of the Opera for New Years Eve. Although I visit Tampa several times a year to see my family, but I had never been here. I was very pleasantly surprised. Thw theater was much larger than I thought from gaving driven by it, and is located right on the water. We got there a little early and had a very nice walk by the water before the show. There is a coffee shop and a restaurant on the premises, although we did not eat there. The theater itself was a great venue and although we were seated far to th side, the view of the stage was excellent. The performance itself qas fantastic. The tickets were well priced ($85 for orchestra seats). I will definitely go back next time Im in town.
Have been going to shows, lectures and classes for years. Helpful employes make this a great place .
