Wide open path which was well maintained. It was evident trash is picked up frequently and the boardwalk is washed day daily. Lots of cool shops and places for food. Such a beautiful well-staffed beach along the boardwalk.
Broadwalk area was very clean and felt very safe---we saw a police presence on patrol every day. Many restaurants and bars, although surprisingly many closed fairly early for a tourist area (between 9-11 p.m.). There is also a nice running/bike path right next to the beach, but if you are planning a serious workout, go early or late---the crowds are too heavy during the day and you have to dodge a lot of people!
walked here in the late afternoon and early AM. In the morning many people were using the area to exercise. There is a designated area on the walk for bikes and rollers blades. Very pleasant walkway with shops and restaurants all along the walk.
Hollywood, Florida Broadwalk is fun, fun, fun. Although the options as to what sort of visit has 6 options it doesn't allow for the option that the. Broadwalk is for everyone: physically challenged, young, old, strollers (babies and couples). It's just a lot of fun. The ocean is right there with lounges, beach umbrellas (for rent), lots of different kinds of restaurants. The food is reasonably priced. The gift shops offer all types of merchandise from really nice clothes to funky knickknacks, also reasonably priced. There is a bandstand, with different entertainment all week long, some of it interactive - such as great dance music. It's delightful to sit, free benches provided, and people watch, listen to the music, have a nice cream cone. The view of the ocean at night with the moon shining thru the swaying palm trees is worth the annoyance of having a REALLY hard time trying to find a parking spot. But, so what, the pleasure you get from the sights and sounds are worth it.
I lived there for 4 years and wouldn't trade the overcrowded beaches in Miami for this little treasure. Try to get there as the sun rises. You will love it. Lovely to walk in the evenings too. So close to Hollywood international airport.
We visited here on March 3, 2015 as a stop with the Water Taxi. Wish we had more time to explore as 45 minutes wasn't enough. Looking forward to returning to spend more time here!
With Margaritaville taking away 2000 parking spaces, parking is now a problem. Meters are VERY expensive and the Garfield St. garage is almost always full. Once your car is parked, the broadwalk is very nice. If one likes to walk, Sheridan St. does have parking but it is 1 and a half miles to get to the middle of the broadwalk. The Marriott is about 5 blocks from Sheridan.
The improvements to this boardwalk are phenomenal! Every entry way is like a piece of art. Nicest "boardwalk" I have ever seen. Very clean, spacious and a separate area for bikes.
For those of you who have experienced board walks in Coney Island or Long Beach or Atlantic City, this is different. A wide avenue of paved interlocking brick work. Special lanes for bikes or roller blades. Watch out! also resturants, bars and beach shops all along the length. There is a nice sized bandshell where concerts are held or retro rock groups play at night. Weekly dance bands are also there for dancing under the stars. The sand beach is nice and wide and if you don't have your own beach chair there are lots available for rent. If you get tired of watching the people you can gaze north and watch the cruise ships go in and out of the Ft. Lauderdale seaport.. Or look up at the airplanes coming and going from Ft. Lauderdale airport. You can come for breakfast lunch or dinner as there are lots of brick walk cafes to choose from.
It's grrrreat! Just do it, whether for exercise, people watching, camaraderie or whatever, there are people of all ages, shapes, and sizes outside enjoying themselves 24/7.
2 and a half miles of board walk to bike, skate and walk on. Lots of place to eat from pizza to Cuban food to ice cream
I love walking on the boardwalk. There are several restaurants to choose from, also ice cream, coffee and healh food vendors.
What a fun way to spend an afternoon or even a whole day, whether you want to hang out on the beautiful beach or just walk the broadwalk in the sunshine. There are tons and tons of places to eat and drink, none of them fancy or showy, all of them kind of smashed together into small spaces - all very casual and relaxed. There are parts of the broadwalk that are quite rundown, which was surprising to me the first time I was there. For instance, there is an almost-deserted mall, which is kind of creepy, and there are other parts of the the broadwalk that could definitely benefit from some TLC. Overall, though, it's just a fun place, with lots to do, and the beach is gorgeous. Parking is easy and relatively cheap at meters or a nearby garage.
Do not expect quaint sidewalk cafés though they try everything just gets mashed together so the charm is lost to ungepatchke. There are maybe three nice places to eat but do not come for fine dining. It gets crowded and noisy as bands compete and tables spill onto the broadwalk. Watch out for bikes!! Don't walk in the bike lane. Strolling along admiring the shoreline can get you run over.Go early and enjoy the long stretch to run or ride into the natural surrounding as It's nicer towards the very end of the strip where the noisy crowd remains behind - if in the afternoon or evening. There is a taste of serenity and dignity at the well know chain hotel in this same area.Development is taking place as I write this and may mean more crowds, tacky souvenir shops pizza places and beer joints...
It's a nice walk down the Broadwalk, lots of people and a fantastic view of the ocean. Plenty of restaurants.
