About 10,00 shells from all over the world. Live sharks and other fish in a small tank for close observation. Feeding and lecture at 10:30am. Also: touch tank, turtles and Macaw. Exhibits for young and old. Parking lot for beach access- so make your beach trip more educational.
They have shark feedings, small sharks and other fish in a pool, reptiles, shells, other cool, beachy things and a parrot that wanted to bite my nose off (saved by the cage!). The attendants are wonderful and interact with the kids, letting them touch starfish, sea urchins, etc.
this home turned nature center is small, but the people that work there are very nice and many are quite knowledgeable about the animals that live there. They do have the nurse shark feedings you can see on certain times of the day. The price is $4.00 a person when we went and the parking is free . You will be able to see it all in about an hour.
The Sandoway House is a vintage Florida-style house converted to a Nature Center. Located on A1A about 3 blocks south of Atlantic Avenue, it has educational exhibits as well as a Gift Shop. Recently a car hit the building tho, and it is closed now till structural repairs can be made.
Very cool place to take the kids - many wonderful exhibits. Love the shark feeding on the weekends. Very cool!
There are terrariums on the porch worth checking out. The macaw out there is a character and fun to watch. The shell collection is impressive. On certain days at specified times there are shark feedings. I didn't happen to be here when that was going on. This nature center is worth a visit.
My niece was visiting from the icy Midwest. We'd taken her to the beach, but the wind was whipping and the seas too cold. I'd heard about the Sandoway House, but never been. We really enjoyed the shark feeding, the fish and other sea creatures in the kidney shaped swimming pool in the back. We also enjoyed interacting with the colorful parrots and turtles. Be sure to check out the sea shells on display upstairs and other artifacts in display cases. A really fun and affordable activity for children and adults.
We enjoyed a stroll from our hotel to the Sandoway Nature Center. At only $4, this is a quaint little treat to learn more about this area of Florida. Be sure to watch the sharks being fed! I learned a lot from the curator who gave an entertaining talk as the sharks ate.
Nature center on Ocean Blvd. in Delray Beach. They provide guided tours, where they feed the sharks. Cost $4. I enjoyed myself.
Great way to spend a few hours. Sharks in the pool were a definite highlight. Kids loved this place!
3 blks from the Marriott, across street from beach, only $4 entrance fee. Kids can see shark & gator feedings, great educational experience, the kids really enjoyed it, the adults did too!
Loved this place. Was within walking distance to the resort we were staying at. We went to the Shark feeding and explored all there displaces on different things they have. My kids LOVE there stuffed animals they got from the gift shop and they are so soft and nicely priced.
This attraction is a house converted into a small museum. The big attraction is the shark feeding, which happens once a day. The house's backyard pool has been transformed into salt water aquarium with 3 nurse sharks and other sea creatures. It will only take an hour or so to see the shell collection and other artifacts, but it is worth a visit.
Educational and fun at the same time! Try to visit with resident vet Dr. Scott while you're there, he is a fount of cool information :)
my wife did this without me and said she enjoyed it. I went fishing and did not miss a thing. I had no intention of skipping fishing for this or any other place.
