Basically, it's a huge park, with plenty of bike trails. You can rent a bike or have a picnic at one of their kiosks. We walked around a bit and took pics. There were a handful of families enjoying the President's Day holiday. If you are in the area and need a place to go riding, then this is your place. If not, there really isn't much to see.
Amazing and breath-taking are the only words to describe this park. Filled with walking paths, bike routes and horse riding trails not to mention the abundance of wildlife make this a place to put on the top of your list. I visit at least once a year and enjoy walks in the park every day. The wildlife are wonderful to observe and to photograph. The landscape is marvelous and the trails are well kept and inviting. So, if you are in the Jupiter area don't miss the chance to spend a few hours exploring this park it is one of Jupiter's best kept secrets!!!
You can see the area under the tree where soldiers were laid to die after fighting the Seminoles, and the crossing where General Jessup had his glasses shot off. Very natural surroundings, but more signage for a self-guided tour would have made it even more enjoyable.
Nice, well maintained park. Friendly turkey that graze while you are nearby. Enjoyed the Chikie hut picnic shelter along the river. A number of geocaches added to the fun.
In January 1838 two battles took place here between the Seminoles and the US forces. While not as well known as other major battlefields, this area gives you some idea of how difficult fighting was during the Seminole Wars. You must use your imagination to recreate the scene! There are markers but the landscape has changed and talking with the guide on Saturday mornings is essential to understand the battle. Just imagine the Seminoles and army firing across the river at one another.
They have historic speakers tell about the battlefield on the weekends and sometimes have reenactments where they fire a canon off! Check the schedule. Rent canoes in Riverbend Park to go down the scenic Loxahatchee River. You can canoe all the way to Jonathan Dickinson State Park. You will see turtles and could see alligators too! Bring your bikes to ride the miles of hard packed dirt trails or go for a hike. You will probably see white tailed deer, turkeys, sandhill cranes, osprey and peacocks if you come early or later in the day. This is what "real" Florida looks like. (except for the peacocks!)
Our first visit and we love it! Areas for picnic, hiking trails, canoes rental, etc... awesomeeeee! Areas available for biking.Free entrance and parking.
What a great park and a real piece of history. Take a stroll or better yet pack your bike for the miles of paths in the park. There are a multitude of small to large tiki huts complete with picnic tables and grills for a fun family outing or a large celebration. Check out the wild white tail deer , turkeys, sand hill cranes, and the flocks of peacocks! rent a canoe from COF in the park for a half day expedition down the pristine Loxahachee and the return bus ride back to the park. A Must See !!!
Love this park for hiking trails, canoe and kayak rentals and photography. There are wild turkeys and Sandhill Cranes roaming around that are socialized so they are easy to photograph. Porta Potties are available.
If you do NOTHING else in the Jupiter area, you must rent a kayak and take a short, gentle paddle trip along the Loxahatchee River. It is amazingly beautiful, and a stunning way to get to know the REAL Florida.
