Dog Wood Park is the nicest dog park we've been to. We belonged to one in Tennessee that was very pleasant and fun for the dogs, but this one is far better. There are large separate areas for large and small dogs, an agility/obstacle course, a lake and great trails for walking. The park is very well maintained and clean. The managers are accommodating to my disability so I can share the experience with my wife and dogs. The price is reasonable for what your and the dogs get. It's great to be able to walk them along some trails and let them swim in the pond (or not depending on how you feel about soggy doggies). If you are visiting in the Jax area with your dog it will increase his or her fun to visit Dog Wood.
Very very nice park for dogs but overpriced if you want to sign up your pet for a monthly dog park. I do love the lake and the back trail under the trees you can walk through. Very peaceful and my dog loved the visit.
Our dogs enjoy the lake and running with the other dogs. There is something for everyone. Running in the field, swimming in the lake, obstacle course, or exploring the wilderness trails.Never had any bad experiences with other dogs as the dog owners understand how to let the dogs interact and the dogs give each other plenty of space. Bring towels to wipe down your pet as they will get dirty.
What a great setup for a dog park. The park is very well maintained and manicured. The pond is fantastic for the pups to go swimming and there's chairs all around it so while the pets play the parents can relax. There is something there for all dogs, there are trails, running area, the pond, and a training exercise corse. It's $11 for an individual visit or you can become a member if you plan on going often. It's truly a great place to take the pips and wear them out.
11 acres of fun for the puppies! If you are looking for a play date spot for your fur-baby then this is the place!
Dogwood Park is the best spot for both you and your dogs to make friends. My dogs love Dogwood Park and it is a super spot to wear them out on a nice warm Saturday or any day.
We are so lucky to have such a wonderful facility near us. It is fun for our two furry creatures but also for us. Walking through the woods is so peaceful. Our dogs, while no longer puppies, still love to go and do several times per week.
This place is outstanding. The park is completely enclosed with several different areas. The pond is fairly good sized and great for allowing your dog to swim. The secluded nature trails are wonderful. Even though you feel as though these trails are taking you through a private path, the whole area (which is separate from other parts of the park) is fenced in so if your dog chooses to wonder than you don't need to worry. There are areas for both small and large dogs. There is a area with hoses at the exit where you can rinse your dog off for free or you could go inside to give your pooch a bath with shampoo and such. This is definitely the best park that I have ever taken my dog to and I would highly recommend taking any friendly dog there too!
With more than 20 acres of open fields, a pond, and fenced woods, this is a perfect place for dog people to hang out. Dogs run free, but supervision is important and owners need to be vigilant, especially on weekends, which tend to be crowded. There is a separate area for little dogs. Little dog owners have their own coffee klatch on weekends. Make sure your dog is socialized and has a good "come" as this is a big park. There are also obedience , agility classes and herding instinct tests. A great facility
I have been a member since August 2013 and could not happier. I have an 11 month old Weimaraner who needs a lot of exercise and Dog Wood Park helps out with that. All of the other dogs and their owners have been friendly so far. Overall, a great experience.
It had two fenced in areas with a pond for the dog to swim. Staff that was work near by was friendly. Wear a hat or bring a shade umbrella as their wasn't any trees for shade.
The park is clearly situated in poorly drained soil conditions and it is evident that the city leaders care little for pet friendly spaces. This area is a reflection on what Jacksonville has done for throat 40 years, no upgrades. If you question this then look at the sides of the roads, littered with vegetation, trash, and the ever menacing flashing road construction signs.
Dog Wood Park is a fantastic way to exercise your pup that is different than just a walk in your neighborhood. It works like a gym membership--members get a key fob that allows them to enter and exit as they choose. Non-members are only allowed to go on Saturdays and Sundays. It is $10 + tax. Be prepared to show your dog's tags--rabies vaccination and his/her city license. There is a huge manmade lake that the dogs are able to run, jump and play in with others. Humans are not allowed to go into the lake to swim. There is a section of trails that are all fenced in where the dogs can run freely while you take in some nature. There is also a little dog park for the small ones. There are bathroom facilities as well as a refrigerator to purchase drinks. One of the best features of the park are the in-door wash area. It costs extra, but after a day of dirt, sand and slobber, it's a great way to wash your dog. If you don't want to pay for a bath, there are 2 outdoor hose stations to just rinse your dog. You aren't allowed to bring your own shampoo. If you've only been to your standard neighborhood dog park, this will change your opinion of what a dog park can be. Enjoy!
Created around a lovely pond where dogs can roam free, this park has so much going for it! They separate dogs by size and have special places for each size to roam. My Bella isn't a water dog although she got out into the pond to cool off. Her favorite spot is the "forest" where she chases squirrels for hours. If they need to be bathed, there is a bathing area on site as well.
I only tried Dogwood because I had a Groupon. I live at the beach and own property on the west side so I never saw a reason to pay to go to a dog park...until DOGWOOD! It is simply one of the best finds I have made in Jacksonville in a long time. It's impeccably clean and plenty of trees to provide shade from the hot Florida sun. My pooch Baylee is a lab and she has never been in better shape since we found Dogwood. She lives in their lake. I love going and talking to other dog owner - it's social and fun for both owner and pet!
