Here is your chance to see over 40 rare tigers, lions and pumas. You won't see this kind of action at a zoo. They do a really good job here with the animals. A true must see in Jacksonville
Last night, my family and I went to the night feeding at Catty Shack. We did the tour beforehand then stayed and watched the feeding. I would definitely wear tennis shoes and bring a jacket. This is an outside event but they do have a tent with heaters on for cooler nights, so you can wait comfortably. They also have snacks and drinks to purchase. It was amazing to see these big cats up close. You will never get this close or get see them interact like they do in the wild anywhere else. It is MUST SEE in Jacksonville. The $15.00 a person is well worth it. Our tour guide AMBER was great! She was very knowledgeable about the animals and had great stories to tell. The best part is that they are all rescued and get to stay at Catty Shack for life. The feeding was awesome as well and a couple of the guys really get them going for a great show! So thank you Catty Shack, this is an experience I will never forget!
My boyfriend and I drove 5 hours from Conyers GA to see these cats and it was definitely worth it! The staff is very friendly and funny and they answered everyone's questions with so much enthusiasm. It was very clear that they really care a lot about these animals. Watching the feeding was the highlight of our experience! It was awesome and I will definitely be back with my whole family next time!
I had family in town and brought them to Catty Shack for the night feeding and it was fantastic. It may have been chilly and raining but we barely noticed it as we were so busy walking around and looking at all of the animals. Show up early to tour the place and then the feeding is at 7:30, well worth the $15 a piece and its also nice knowing you are helping to support the animals. After the feeding you hear the lions roaring and prior to the feeding they are running around their areas ready for some dinner!
We visited just yesterday and are already planing our next visit! Such a great assortment of HUGE cats! This was for our 8-year-old son's birthday but ended up being a thrilling experience for our whole family!
An up close and personal experience with some of the most beautiful creatures on Earth. To know that these animals were cast offs made it even more appealing to me and my wife. The Catty Shack Rescue organization is wonderful and their passion for these animals bleeds over into their visitors with their very personal tour guides. We are looking to go back very soon and will be sponsoring an animal.
The cats are majestic and awe inspiring. We had a very knowledgeable guide -- a volunteer, whose enthusiasm and love for the cats really showed. We were there early afternoon when most of the animals were sleeping and want to go back again for a tour in the evening when they are feeding. I am sure I would then give Catty Shack the top rating. Space per animal is adequate but there are plans to move to a 10 times larger facility where the cats would really have the living conditions they deserve. The more visitors to the ranch now will bring this move closer to reality.
Went there on a cold Febuary Friday night so the crowd was not large. The cats did not seem to mind the cold as much as we did but my wife and I still had a great time. The Catty Shack had a fire going and a heater going in a tent so we could warm up a little between the 45 minute tour and the actual feeding of the cats which starts promptly at 7:30pm. My wife is not an "animal lover" type of person but still enjoyed both the tour and the feeding. The volunteer tour guide was very informative and somewhat funny. Would recommend this tour to everybody
Took my girlfriend here as a first date idea nearly one year ago... and we are still together so I consider this a win. Was it because of my awesome ability to plan a fun first date and take her to this neat place thereby establishing in her head that I am the worlds greatest guy who can keep her interested? Probably... Enough about me though, for a date or family outing this place is great. My first impression was this: "wow, this place is RIGHT in the middle of a neighborhood..." because it is. You will drive up not expecting to find 30ish jungle cats but that's where it is. Its similar to a zoo, but all of the animals are treated better and get more interaction from the caretakers. Also, its kind of in a swamp so bring bug spray or use the stuff they offer you. Trust me. Over all, it was a great 2 hour adventure and is definitely good for all ages.
My boyfriend and I had a great time. There is a big variety of cats to look at and this is probably the closest you could ever get to these animals! The feeding time was the best part. The "five girls" they call them were amazing to watch when they got all excited for their dinner. I would definitely recommend!
My husband and I brought our 4 year old son to the ranch for the Saturday night feeding. It was spectacular. Amber was our tour guide and she was fantastic. There were also many other people at the exhibits to answer questions. They were all incredibly knowledgable and super friendly. We will definitely return and I will tell all my friends and family to go for a visit.
This was one of the most awesome experiences I've ever experienced. We live here in Jacksonville and whenever anyone comes to visit, we will definitely be taking them there. I definitely recommend making this part of your trip to our area. A+ for sure
Went on a Friday night and there for feeding all the big cats. Really amazing to see these animals so close!
It is a fabulous place, doing a good thing for rescued big cats. I have been 4 times, my only advice is go when it stays lighter longer in the day(spring/summer). You can see more, as they dont have enough lights when its dark out.
It's so amazing to see all the big cats (tigers, lions, etc) so close. You see them through a chain link fence about 5ft from you. Nice experience.
