This is my second review rating of this club. I gave it a "Poor" rating the first go around. As a long time resident and member of Grand Haven, I can only say that "A new broom sweeps clean". All of the staff are new and energized. The food, service, management and course superintendent are upbeat, professional and turning this site around. The golf course is returning to its original excellent condition and my friends are now supporting the needed and improved dining room. The restrooms and other areas are clean and inviting. I now feel proud to recommend this place to people.
I have eaten in the main restaurant here when there have been special events but, until last year, not the club's café. The Café is a real treat. Wonderful food at very reasonable prices. The bar too is a very friendly venue. Overall the amenities at the club are exceptional.
A Nicklaus course but playable and, to my surprise, enjoyable. I've played a number of Nicklaus courses and found them to be too difficult for most golfers. The design, conditioning, routing, and speed of greens were better than a lot of courses in this area. I could play this course often and not grow tired.
Have been here for many years and have seen many changes. The golf course was once a US Open qualifying course and was in fabulous condition because of the excellent course superintendent. When course was taken over by Hampton Golf, everything started to go down. Restaurant has also been in a steady decline. You can't operate and present a quality overall product when your only open for a few days a week. This does not attract quality chefs, wait staff and bar attendants. They would have to have a second job. Have heard too many times that they now have a new great chef. It's way over time to prove it. Overall facility and restrooms are very clean.
We're members of GHGC, and have been for nine years. We've had a variety of Chef's over the years, but we now (March 2014) have an excellent Chef on board with a good menu selection. Staff is good as well.
Frozen food, incomplete menu and stale bread. Eating here was a challenge because I had been warned and that warning wasn't heeded. Short portions, unimaginative menu. Just expensive and bad.
Food is marginally good....drinks are skimpy and overpriced. Too many buffets and not enough open menus. Is more like a municipal golf course than a country club
We had dinner at the grand haven golf club recently. The appetizers and salads and the wines were good but the entrees were terrible. The chicken dish was tasteless a dish made from cheap frozen chicken pieces and thrown on the plate . The flounder was watery and tasteless also. The pork loin was rubbery. Enough said! There was no offer of a dessert or coffee after we had complained all they seemed interested in was clearing the dining room so they could go home.
Very friendly and welcoming staff, good food and many choices for lunch--( heard they have very good buffets), friendly course
Privately owned club (new ownership in the past year) in the middle of the Grand Haven gated community in Palm Coast, Florida. Played a round with my 15 year old son. Mainly elderly members and it was not until the 18th hole did we see anyone under the age of 70. As a former greens keeper the course was in ok shape but too many weeds in the fairways and the greens surface were just ok. Dense palmeto woods off most of the fairways make it almost impossible to find a ball hit off the fairways. Houses border all the fairways which detracts from the overall scenary. Did not eat in the club restaurant but overhead some members complaining about the food, service, etc. which probably is due to growing pains under new management. Had to wait almost 45 minutes to grab a sandwich at the snack bar between the 9th and 10th holes and they were out of many items on the menu. Lots of bunkers and ponds on most holes. Friendly staff.
Great price for 3-course dinner ($28.00). Great service, and very nice ambiance. But, but, but the chef "missed the mark". Entree and appetizer over the top with salt. Surprising because most residents in the community are elderly. Would go again IF they hire a 'food taster' with young taste buds or, asked the diners their preference.
wonderful ambience, food is imaginative as well as very tasty. Priced reasonably and service is excellent.
The new owner has cleared out a lot of the foliage/undergrowth which opens up the views and makes for less lost balls. A Jack Nicklaus signature course with a fabulous layout on the front 9 and a less striking back 9. Private, but during their new member drive I think you can get on through GolfNow.
The continuose turnover of policies and personnel has made this dinning experience . You don't know what your going to get. lets hope they get it right this time
Played a great round of golf at this gem of a course. Lovely facilities, very friendly and helpful staff that made us feel welcome from the moment we drove up to the bag drop. The course is in great shape, and would be good for all but the lowest handicappers. It is in the middle of a large development, but it is so well positioned that the houses are either unobtrusive or completely hidden. It is a private club, but they do accept Internet tee times...used Golfnow and got about 25% off the published rate. Would definitely go back if I visit the St Augustine/Daytona Beach area again
