This is a relatively small art museum on the campus of Miami Uiversity in Coral Gables. It pales in size by comparison with the more famous Perez Museum in downtown Miami. But it is orders of magnitude more interesting, with almost none of the contemporary art that has you scratching your head wondering if it's part of the exhibit or the debris from a recent renovation. The exhibits here are well curated, well organized, and exceedingly interesting.

Visit the Lowe Art Museum on the campus of the University of Miami Campus for a wonderful experience in a low pressure environment. Many permanent collections and always interesting traveling exhibits. We really enjoy visits here.

The museum was very diverse with old art and modern art. The atmosphere was nice. The guards pleasant.

I love this place. It was awesome and displayed some great artwork. You will learn a lot about the history of the Everglades when in the museum.

We had not realized that the museum is on the University of Miami campus, which required going through one of their security stations. We also accepted the challenge of feeding the nearby parking meter with a phone ap that we had never used. It was straightforward, but took a LOT of keystrokes (and about 10 minutes) to complete. The permanent collection includes well-known artists including Goya, Picasso, Monet, Gaugin, and El Greco. But, we were surprised to find a wide selection of high-quality art and artifacts ranging from ancient Chinese to Greek and Roman to Pre-Columbian to Haitian and African. A couple of hours should make for a worthwhile visit. Note that some of the items are not clearly identified, and even some of the docents could not provide much assistance. However, the wealth of historical and cultural content made this an excellent visit!

Inside of The University of Miami campus, nice little art museum with great gift shop. Interesting mix of exhibits-- good for a quick visit, can see everything in around an hour or two.

Beautiful museum with a small but interesting collection of modern art. My favorite in Miami. They have activities for children and it is a good family trip.

I took a group of students to the museum and we had a great experience. We had a guided tour in which we were exposed to art from all of the different periods. Our guide was able to really carry on a discussion with the kids and got them each involved. Definitely plan on going again.

My wife and I make it a habit to visit the most talked about museums in each major city we visit. I must say that the Lowe left me sort of bleh. It was OK. You know what I mean? Good collection and great range. Needs work to be world class.

No nearby handicap parking, staff were very unhelpful, totally put off by experience so we left without seeing the exhibits. We went instead to the nearby Coral Gable Museum which had a lovely modern art display as well as interesting history of the area.

Nice art collection which is even better when the different exhibitions are brought. Beautiful museum located on the University of Miami main campus in Coral Gables.

This museum is on the campus of the Univ. of Miami. It supposedly has a large collection but it's interior area isn't that big. A bright spot is the collection of glass art. We have seen various works of glass art that are on the large size. These were human size and some were quite amazing. The galleries were so-so but I was taken with the well preserved Greco-Roman and southwest Native American artistry. A downside for this gallery is that it's on the campus and every parking spot in the small lot has a meter. It will cost you $0.25 for each 12 minutes you are parked there. There are meters on the street outside as well.

We live in West Palm Beach, about 1 1/2 hours from the University of Miami campus, home to the Lowe Art Museum. We were particularly interested in a current, special exhibition by Stephen Knapp, an American artist best known as the creator of Lightpaintings. We had seen his work for sale at one of the major art shows in West Palm Beach and wanted to see more. So we piled into a car and took a drive to Miami. When the Lowe Art Museum opened in the early 1950s it was the first art museum in South Florida. Today it has a collection of over 17,000 objects. The Knapp Exhibit was beautifully staged, with a significant collection of his works spread through two large exhibition spaces. The exhibition also included a local telephone number to call. Each piece was identified and had a telephone prompt, which provided an audio explanation by the artist. That was a nice touch and was very enriching.Unfortunately, our schedule did not permit us the time to wander the rest of the museum. We would have liked to and someday will return. There is ample metered parking adjacent to the museum. It's easy to find and to enjoy.

Well presented art and helpful staff. Collection is small with many of the works "attributed" or "school of..". But nonetheless very interesting.Note that unless one wants student food there is nowhere to eat nearby.

We enjoyed all the art on display. It's quite an eclectic collection, but no less interesting for that. The collection of glass pieces is particularly good.
