We were a little disappointed in this botanical garden. If it wasn't for the Lego sculptures, it would have been a waste of time. After you see the first 30 feet of tropical trees and shrubs, it gets very boring. We thought it would be fun for children, but the only thing they enjoyed was running down the walking trails.
We were fortunate to be visiting Vero Beach during the "Nature Connects" Lego exhibit. It was worth the price of admission to the gardens, although I have to admit paying more attention to the Lego displays than the plants. The artist who designed the figures on display is the same age as my son, who still enjoys building with Legos. He just doesn't get paid for it! We did enjoy reading about the history of the garden and viewing the Hall of Giants, the Spanish Kitchen, and the Bamboo Pavilion. We were interested in whether there were evening events held there since we noticed lighting features, but the garden's open hours were listed as ending at 5 p.m.
Outstanding garden!!! Something new to be found every time we go. Have reciprocal memberships with many gardens through American Horticultural Society. They had a great Lego exhibit this time, everyone found something they really enjoyed.
The gardens were not in bloom for our March visit but the foliage was lovely. It is a great place for a nice walk. The Lego Exhibit was fantastic. I took pictures of every display and of the number of pieces it took to build them. The grandkids will have to enjoy them vicariously! It could use another rest room at the far end of the gardens. There is a nice café there but we didn't try it. The gift shop has some pretty things and lots of educational items for the kids. The price was a little steep for seniors. Overall it was a great experience.
Exquisite, flowers aroma...the walk around the gardens was so peaceful & enjoyable! Make sure you bring water, you will not want to stop
McKee Botanical gardens is a beautiful place to spend a lazy sunshiny day. The foliage is incredible, the staff friendly and the Lego exhibit incredible. Reasonable fee--$11 for seniors. Great gift shop.
We visited the Lego exhibit and the antique car exhibit we have a yearly pass we try to go at least once every two weeks to see the beauty of the plants and the historic structures
We visited during the lego display and it was quite interesting. The butterfly, the bee, the rose, even a bison with calf made of thousands of legos. The Garden itself is very tropical and well marked for figuring out the names of plants and trees. The Café Osceola Grille is very good..I would recommend the chicken salad with dried apricots..a sweetness that is very different and very pleasant. Wine available, which was nice on a drizzly day in the gardens.
Loved the Lego displays and all of the gorgeous flowers, trees and water interests.. I especially enjoyed seeing the orchids growing on the trees.. Just beautiful!
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this garden oasis..... last time I was there they had a fabulous glass exhibit scatter throughout the property... this time it was Lego creations... quite fun to go on a hunt for them....
A nice place-lots of plants ! Most setting include the plants in their natural settings and limited information. Became boring soon. Maybe not our cup of tea. Hope others enjoy more than us. Reasonable-flat walking is required.
Lego was awesome kha. The antique auto show was very nice. Lovely garden. The Legos were out of this world. Vero beach is a lovely town for foreigners
The addition of the leggo sculptures is a great addition to get young children to go to this botanical gardenIt is very cAlming for allThe kids learn along with enjoying the leggo pieces Many varieties of bamboo Especially the black!Flowers of many kinds
Every time I am in Vero make an effort to visit McKee Gardens. There have been exhibits throughout the garden that have been fantastic. This year the Lego exhibit was very intriguing. in how the display was presented
We took the morning away from the ocean and had a nice stroll through the gardens. They have an explorer program for the kids. Make sure to read the suggested ages on the various programs. Mine are 4 and 6, so we did the Garden Explorer. The kids had a great time with their backpacks, binoculars, compass and magnifying glasses. This adds a nice element of fun to an activity that might not naturally be a great time for kids. The McKee is lovely to walk though and offers a nice variety of local flora for viewing.
