Wynwood is the latest of the revitalized areas of Miami, full of free expression, by Graffiti ART. They really take this type of art seriously in t over the this part of the city. Every December they paint all the walls white, creating a new Canvas for the Graffiti artist so they can do their thing. This and the growing number of great restaurants plus the nearby Fashion District makes it a wonderful area to spend the whole day around it.Enjoy
The Walls of Wynwood are worth the trip to this neighborhood.. I would be a bit careful as to where I parked as there as some dangers nearby. Friends of ours had their car broken into and entered.
This had been a rundown industrial area until the brilliant and innovative idea to organize and encourage local artists to paint the walls with large to huge sized murals. The art varies from really exceptional and interesting to less so. One site, the Wynwood Walls is concentrated art covered walls. The walls have led to development. There are numerous art galleries and small restaurants. All in all it was a really enjoyable few hours or walking and gawking. And the best key lime pie ever at Fireman Derek's World Famous Pies.My impression was that the areas surrounding Wynwood were not places I would like to walk after dark.
We lived our visit to a Wynwood, probably one of the highlights of our trip to Miami, the walls are simply amazing. And the surrounding areas are filled with amazing artwork too. We visited, Wood Tavern, TSL lounge, the butcher shop and gramps and all were amazing! Highly recommend visiting
We went to the Wynwood Walls on a Saturday and enjoyed the visit. In retrospect, we should have taken one of the walking tours. The Walls themselves (a specific location within the broader area of Miami) are easy to get to and see on your own, but touring outside the Walls was more challenging. A number of galleries were closed, and the art is pretty spread out so you have to do a lot of walking and know where you're going. We were surprised it was so quiet on a Saturday, but they'd had some kind of special event the prior weekend, so perhaps everyone was talking a well-deserved rest. The area is kind of industrial, so not much to see beyond the art, which covers most of the walls of the buildings. It's perfectly safe, just not pretty. With little traffic, a good option might be to rent a bike from one of the Citi bike stands that are everywhere and tool around for an hour.
We visited the Wynwood area for art and dinner. We were pleasantly surprised to see how the area has come alive lately! The restaurants that are opening are great, like Gigi's which we highly recommend, then the Fireman Derek World Famous Pies with delicious coffee and sweets. We then stopped at Fer Sucre Pop Gallery which looked bright and different from the outside, only a minute later we were having an espresso with the artist himself and his wife, casually talking about Fernando's art, the area restaurants and other places to visit. We ended up buying a few things there, a painting is definitely on our list, but we took home a few cushions and a bag. We will come back again soon, Fer and his wife are great hosts and his art is a lot of fun, like himself! The gallery is located at 2609 N Miami Ave, Miami, FL 33127, the other two places are also on North Miami Ave. All worth the visit!
I love this area I feel so alive vibrant inspired-- it's a must see even if your not a fan of graffiti but have a passion for the arts ❤️
An interesting concept neighborhood. Obviously the graffiti is all planned out and painted professionally. It's like an open sky gallery. All kinds of expression through the paintings. Some are great to take photos in front of. The neighborhood also has some coffee spots and restaurants that are worth a try. I'd recommend it. Great to just take a stroll and browse through the painted walls and odd art galleries spread out.
Wynwood is for graffiti enthusiast, artist all kinds and down to earth people who enjoy good food and scenery, you have to be careful if you're tourist though one wrong turn and your on the wrong side of the tracks...... I love this place.... you can sometimes see models - singers doing their thing with some beautiful wall behind them. I recommend biking around here and take a camera a MUST!!!!!! or just drive around.
We always go to Wynwood, ALWAYS! This is a cool place to walk around, shop and see the sights and art. GO HERE if you can!
Great area to walk around and see all the local graffiti and art on the walls and small exhibitions. Not all of it is great to walk, as it is close to bad neighborhoods, but it is usually very safe.
Wynwood has become the new Soho of New York, with many Art galleries, hip restaurants, and bars. Most places are very reasonably priced and very walkable
Wynwood is artistic and full of life. You will love the art on the walls but Hate the traffic on a busy day. Avoid the main street.
Very original art district. If you like to stroll and discover art this is the neighborhood. It is amazing what artists have painted on the walls. There are several restaurants around. We had lunch at Joe,s and the food was nice! There was a girl singing bossanova! Service is good and fast!
Visited Wynwood because I had a couple of hours to kill in Miami. The Hub of the district is on 2nd street between 29th and 20th. I parked near 29th and walked south, stopping at restaurants and art galleries along the way. The street art is rad, the food is good, and the people are interesting. Cool scene, I would highly recommend for a 20-30 something.Note: it airs on the "dirtier" side. Would not recommend for elderly people or families with small children.
