This place is the best, tried it once and cant stop, the staff is amazing and welcome everyone to come learn and have fun.
So uniquely fun. My husband did it 'back in the day" and now we take our kids there for the the weekend classes when they slow the tow cable down. My 3 boys love it - From my 7 year old to my 13 year old. The crew are all terrific, very helpful, calm, funny and interactive. The lady who runs it is so positive, attentive and really accommodating. You can try different equipment and you improve really fast.My older boy is old enough & good enough to do the regular sessions. We did his 13th Birthday party here ~ and all the kids and their parents loved it. Bring a cooler with drinks, enjoy the music and being outdoors in a great park doing something interesting! We're going to try the kite skiing next.
That's basically it. If you want to ski, and don't have a boat, come here. Nice park. Playground near the cable skiing. Not overly expensive, but not cheap either.
I had a great time hanging out and spending the day here. Lots of fun. There are only a few activities you can do that last all day at a reasonable price and this was one of them.
Great place to wakeboard, tan and enjoy an outdoor BBQ with friends. No board? No problem, they have wakeboards, kneeboards and skis available for rent (including life vest and helmet). This is a fantastic place to spend a sunny day. Weekends are usually more packed so you may not get to ride as many times as on a regular week day. Check out their website for rates and opening hours. Things to take: lots of sunscreen, towel, sunglasses, boardshorts (for girls), go pro, friends, family, board, helmet, life vest, rash guard if you have and $$.
not for the advanced wakeboarder, water is very shallow, went off the kicker and hit bottom, only waist deep water. wow that could be very dangerous. o.k. for kids that just want to go and ride around I guess.
This is a great place to see young kids hanging out and having fun... if you are up for the challenge, gear up and do your best out there. It has been almost 22 years since I visited this water ski heaven and sure enough I was in no time back in shape, having a great time among all the young kids that usually pack the place with energy. Great for kids 12 and up... Here is a tip for you... kids 17 and under must have Mon or Dad along side to sign the waiver, otherwise you wont ride. 18 and up can sign their own waiver. Only US$ 25,00 for 1 Hour - full gear and basic lesson included
Bought an hour at ski rixen with my almost 11 year old son. I know the minimum age is 12, but my son and I are pretty decent water skiers. We had fun but couldn't make it around the first turn. If you fall there like we did many times, it is along rocky barefoot walk back to the start. Despite that, we had fun. The people that work there are helpful. I switched to a knee board halfway through my hour, because they said it was easier.I heard that in the morning the lines run slower. If it was my first time or had younger kids, I would look into that.Definitely make a visit here.
Went with my almost 11 year old son. I know the minimum age is 12, but like me he is a good water skier. We both got up on water skis but couldn't make it around the first turn and it is a hard rocky barefoot walk back to the beginning. I think if we had more time, we would eventually be able to do it. I switched to a knee board which seemed easier to me.My suggestion would be if you have younger kids or a first timer, I think in the morning they have lessons and they make it go slower. We didn't because it didn't work out in our time schedule.Definitely go! It was a fun time!
Took my 3 kids aged 12-15. They had a great time. we also got the beginners package which . This package must be reserved in advance and is normally on weekends from 10 -12am. Cable speed is slower and they get a lot of instruction and help on how to get up from the start. My only knock is they usually don't see what is going on at the first turn, that is where my kids kept falling off. They were getting very frustrated until I mentioned it to the instructors and they were able to give them additional pointers.
I went yesterday 9-22-13 with my 17 year old son and we had a blast. We signed up for the beginners course which gave us (6 persons) personalized instructions and exclusive access to the lake with slower cable speeds to get adjusted. The staff was very friendly and helpful and gave us continuous instruction until we got it right. The only neg. is the trail to come back to the launch deck if you fall. It is rocky and if your bear foot it is going to hurt your feet. The solution: take sandals, loop one of the life-jacket straps through them and if you fall you have your sandals to walk back. Trust me, it makes a great difference and you will have an amazing time!!!!
This is more like our second home. We love that it's centrally located in South Florida and only a five minute drive from 95! The park is always clean and well maintained ! The people there are there because they are doing what they love and most of them are there because they are passionate about the sport. Such a cool place to go to do something different. If you've never tried it before it's definitely worth the money! We love Louie (the cable guy) and Britta is a doll :)
We spent two days this past weekend at Rixen and our 14, 15, and 16 year old boys were in heaven. The grounds are clean, the staff are wonderful and friendly, and the lake is gorgeous. My sons are average to very good wakeboarders and they all had plenty of things they could enjoy on the lake. There are good variety of features on the lake with all kinds of difficulty and potential tricks. There are also plenty of food places near the park some who even deliver, to make hanging out easy for the whole family. There are shaded areas and plenty of picnic tables. Also, it is part of a larger park so there are walking and biking trails, and even basketball courts. We couldn't have been happier with our experience!
my daughter and friend visiting from Germany went to ski rixen this past weekend which is located in Quiet waters park. you sit or kneel or stand on water boards or skis and hang on for dear life to a cable that pulls you around an almost mile coarse. there are jumps , slides and a lot of items to test from the amateur to the professional skier. its just a place to have a great time. must be 16 years old. They also have a skate board section and the park area for is beautiful for picnics and the water park for the little ones is just great. even if you do not water ski check out the park.
We have been to the park to watch the skiers which we find exciting. It's a great place to have your children try while they are visiting. Our boys tried it several years ago and they loved it. It's fun to watch the experienced and amateur skiers.
