I've played Crystal Lake twice and wanted to comment on the course. The course is in good shape, fairways are very playable and the greens are a little slow but in good condition. As noted in other reviews there are a few sandy spots on some of the greens but all in all they are fine. The Rees Jones layout is fairly short but a fun track. The new club house is basic but they do make a good hamburger and the patio bar is a nice place to enjoy an after round cigar. No showers. The staff are friendly and the rates, about $55 on a week end, are in keeping with comparable courses in the area. Don't let the name fool you, water only comes into play on a couple of holes. There are a lot parallel holes; with a fair number of beginners on the course, you need to be on the lookout for errant shots. Pace of play is what you would expect at a daily fee-little slow. This time of year there are numerous snow birds. As with just about any daily fee, nobody fixes ball marks or rakes traps and they don't have rangers to move the pace along. The range is substandard, mats only and short, range balls are beat up. They only do large buckets, so if you just want to hit a few to warm up, you're out of luck. The putting/chipping green is OK. No practice bunker or pitching area. The course is surrounded by condos (as are 80% of the golf courses in Florida). Many of the condos are run down so the views are not that great, but the interior holes are ok.This is a good course for a high handicapper, you can play well away from trouble and you shouldn't lose any balls; from the tips it is a good challenge for a single digit. For the price I would say this is a pretty good deal. If you're a local, get the players card. It will pay for its self in three rounds. Very good is a stretch, but the price makes it better than average.
We used to be members in CLCC years ago when it was a very lively, fun club. Now with only one course a little less so. The course is not in very good shape but we know it so well and like it nevertheless. The bar is pretty quiet but it's there. Staff is very friendly and makes you feel welcome.
This course was decent. Newly renovated clubhouse was nice. I played pretty well here for my first time, sot an 88. The course isn't bad until you get to the sandy greens. This I can say was not fun. Tough to put. Didn't plan on beach golf!
my husband plays every week here and always takes new friends with him. He is a regular and always takes advantage of the special they have every August. Food is good and staff is very friendly and helpful. Keep up the good customer relations.
Have not been there in a few years but was impressed with the improvements. New pro shop and restaurant, cleaned up the course and new greens. Could be slow play with beginners because of the price point looks like a few new golfers.
