The lovely green expanse contrasts with the built-up surroundings, and features a view overlooking the Brattleboro Retreat campus. The Retreat Tower is also often visible from here.

Unfortunately it is only a small area of land, and is surrounded by 2 busy roads. But The Common is so beautiful - regardless of the season. Summer the trees and bushes are in full bloom and look amazing. You can also watch the squirrels and Chipmunks darting around. In the Fall, the green grass is replaced by a carpet of bronzed leaves, as winter starts to take its grip. And then in winter all that disappears as a deep layer of snow takes over for the winter months. Quite an inspiring place to be in the winter with the Stars & Stripes flag proudly flying above the Common's War Memorial as a tribute to this brave men and woman lost in battle.

I stumbled upon this as I was driving around town. It was a delightful addition to down town and at the time hosted a group of children playing. It must surely plays a role for those living or working in the area. It is a great place to enjoy a bite to eat and soak in sunshine and warmth before winter. A perfect spot to relax with a book and disconnect. An ideal punctuation to any afternoon.

We stopped in Brattleboro for lunch and a quick tour of the town on our way to Bennington and enjoyed a few hours walking around town. Parking is extremely difficult.

This is an average city park. The glowing reviews are about the town not the park. I am sure three are days when the locals make it look good. Not today, fence broken, litter noticed.

Every time I visit Brattleboro I need to go to this park at least for a little while. I simply love it. Just a simple place where you can walk and stay in peace in the middle of a hectic day. Difficult to explain in words, but the atmosphere is very good.

If you have never been to New England and all you to go by are the movies you have seen, then your mind's picture will be painted with a central park Perhaps with a gazebo where they play music or young lads propose to their best gals, or there would be park benches with people actually sitting and reading or watching people go by, and the grass would smell freshly cut. Or you would expect dogs pulling on their leases as they spy another...yes, that would be a perfect New England Park or "Common"....and it exists as pictured in Brattleboro, VT. The Chamber of Commerce will gladly promote all of the Brattleboro attractions, but their finest is this peaceful, manicured common. Stop by and slow down a little, pick up a sandwich and have lunch. The best things in life can be free.

Brattleboro's Common has a great feeling about it. There is nearly always someone walking a dog, sitting with a book, or just enjoying the little gazebo. There is a special "music in the park" series that the town organizes during the summer. The first Saturday in June, the park is taken over by the Strolling of the Heifers parade and festival.

A beautiful and bucolic location next to downtown Brattleboro. Features park benches, bandstand, war monuments and the scene of annual Memorial Day services. Special events throughout the year. Chamber of Commerce maintains an information center here, too.
