The Vermobt historic site features the reconstructed early home of Chester Arthur. There are no furnishings. Each room is filled with historical informational panels about Arthur's life. When coming from the south or easdt, it is easier to get to from rt 108. Just note, you need to turn onto a dirt road that probably is not on your GPS.
I have been a Presidential history buff since I was a child, visiting sites like this across the country. There's not much to see here, and it's in the middle of nowhere (almost to Canada), but it's worth visiting to cross if off the list. The stone marker is very large (almost as big as the house itself!). There's no furniture inside the small house, only a few large placards documenting the life of our 21st president. It was interesting to speak with Heather, whose family has been the home's caretaker for many years. There is no admission fee, but they do accept donations. One tip: we used the address from the VT historic society's website, but our GPS guided us to nowhere - luckily, we passed a sign for the site. I would suggest mapping it out the old-fashioned way and keeping an eye out for those signs.
