We live in the area, and were going to take one of the foliage rides up the CT river (separate review), but decided to go early and explore the "museum". If there is one there, we certainly couldn't find it. What there was included a old engine, a couple of baggage carts, some tacky take your photo thru the painted panels, and a few bits of old equipment scattered around. There is the ticket counter (it's at an active Amtrak station and the Green Mountain Railroad runs north from there), and a small gift shop. A "museum", not hardly!
We spent over a week there and had no idea it existed. We did enjoy the railroad station. More words needed here.
There was nothing to see at the museum. We also took the train ride which was terrible. The sights were horrible. One side of train you looked at people's back yards which most are trashed the other side was of a river. The diesel fumes were so strong it makes you sick. Maybe one of the theme rides would be better. Do not recommend the regular trip. Over priced too.
Got in as the receptionist said it was used as a store room. There was a single display board and a set of signal lights. That was it. Don't make a trip for that.Don't confuse this in any way with the Green Mountain train ride which leaves from the same place, it's really good.
We drove all the way there to find out that there was no staff and that the place was closed.
