Very nice location and trails. No shortage of area to explore. We highly recommend visiting for hiking and we look forward to snow shoeing here in the winter!

Seriously. Snowshoe here! It's a wonderful place. The views are great and the trails are well-maintained.

In search of snow, we found Hazen's Notch XC Ski Report and decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, we arrived to ski on Monday and found that the ski center hut is only open on weekends according to the locals. The website states that it is open during the Winter from 9a-4p? I guess that just means the trails not the hut. Fortunately, I had printed off a trail map before we had arrived since none was to be had at the center. Not even one posted at the trail head. Some trails were not marked well and we lost the trail a few times since we were trying to follow old ski tracks buried under the powder. We love backcountry skiing and found this area to be beautiful but not difficult.

Not well marked for visitors - there is a sign that says PRIVATE road, so we didn't know until a local told us that the PRIVATE ROAD was actually where we were supposed to access the trails. We were afraid of trespassing. Well-marked once we got onto the trails, though.

The hazen's notch website had been down so we decided to just stop by. This could have bee a big mistake as the place was closed. I spoke to an older fellow who was working on a shed across the street and asked for a map and was told that there wasn't one. He then directed us to Rossier road (1st right after the association building) and the High Ponds Farm parking lot. Here there is a trailhead leading up to the summit of Burnt Mountain. A small sign explains that the property is private but access for the public is allowed by the owner, Rolf Anderson (thanks!). We parked and off we went! The summit trail is 2.5 miles and isn't terribly difficult. Our group was a mix of adults and children and we all were able to make it up top. Spectacular views are the payoff, we got some amazing photos. If you are in the area in the summer, its worth a few hours of your time.

Zen-like hike in a pristine refuge. It feels like you are a million miles away from civilization. There was no staff around to speak to however

I am so happy to have discovered this place and can't wait to come back when there is more snow! I should add that despite the lack of snow this winter the trails all had adequate coverage. The terrain is perfect- not too steep, the views are lovely and the warming hut is a great cozy place for lunch on a 0 degree day!

Loved the heavy snoss fall and the trails. The wild animals were fun to see and watch as we skiied along.

I recently sent my nephew Drew to their summer sleepaway camp, and I was very impressed with their entire operation. A nice man named Rolf runs and owns this camp and he is one of the nicest men you could ever hope to meet. We in Montgomery are VERY lucky to have his camp right down the road from us!!
