Warm, friendly and dynamite local burgers from area farms. Other local offerings from area farms. They have gluten free options too, and if you can get Serena to make you one of her inspired cocktails [they have regular specialty cocktails as well,} you are in for a treat. Serena is a master at making a great cocktail. Casual, can bring the kids, music every night. {Jazz, Bluegrass, all live} Great local-watching here! Eat on the deck in the summer and people-watch!
There were 12 of us at one table (a grouping of several tables with a reservation) and Taps was busy with locals and visitors. I can image how busy the kitchen was. 5 of our meals were cold which was disappointing as we waited over an hour for our meals. Other tables of people arriving after us, were fed and left. We were the last to be served that we could see. The waiter kept apologizing and we knew it wasn't her fault. The food was average. My fish taco was frozen fish and overcooked and cold. We weren't expecting gourmet... I think the fries were pretty good and the burgers from what I heard across the huge table set-up. This place is one of a few places to eat in Poultney and we caught it on a bad night.
Taps is a bar/restaurant which is crowded with Poultney locals, so you expect it to be good. We went there twice, and had four different entrees between us. All were prepared quickly and beautifully presented. The food tasted as good as it looked. The specialty drink I ordered with fresh blueberries and lavender was unique and delicious. The servers were friendly and accommodating. Only con is that it is a bit pricey, but when the food is good you don't mind as much!
