The first .3 miles of this 1.2 mile loop is a very easy walk. After that, the path has inclines and declines where you have to step over tree roots, but all in all, its pretty easy. Along the way there are poems of Robert Frost posted so you can read and reflect. You may not find this on your GPS, so just go to Ripton, VT on Rte 125. From there just continue East for a few more miles. There is a parking area on the right.
Last November my wife and I traveled to Vermont for a little getaway. We found the Robert Frost Interpretive Trail during a day trip whilst staying at the Robert Frost Cabins in Ripton Vermont. We highly recommend both.
Great poems chosen for each spot and a nice variety of landscapes to view. Kept my kids' attention as well as mine.
The placement of selected poems in inspiring settings gives fresh appreciation for Frost's work. And a beautiful drive to get there.
This trail is nice and easy. It's more a loop you walk around than a real hike. I loved all of the Robert Frost poetry along the way. There's a nice area with a plaque and a bench. Good for photos. The walk is easy. A word of warning though, continue on toward the parking lot (it's the other half of the loop) and don't head upward unless you want a real hike experience. My partner and I did that and it was steep, rocky and muddy and I was pretty sure we weren't on the trail anymore. About a mile up, found a sign and yes, we were on the Northstar trail which started without any warning. If you stay on the Robert Frost Trail, it's informative and easy. Great trail for families or those that want to get out in nature but nothing too strenuous. Plenty of free parking and easy to find.
Its not a long trail but its a easy trail that you can stop along the way to absorb the beauty of the forest. It takes you thru the marsh,,, over a stream... into the forest. Its also dog friendly and she love the various sents that she came across along the path... her nose was a moving,,,,
A beautiful trail that combines the beautiful scenery of the Green Mountains of Vermont and the words of poet Robert Frost, whose cabin is nearby. The path goes from marsh to mountain view to forest, and small plaques give samples of Frost poetry that fits the location.
We couldn't make it to Frost's farmhouse further south and so decided to walk the trail near Middlebury instead. It was perfect, got there about 9 am and there was not a soul about. Good easy walking, my mother aged 83 managed well, just needed an arm now and again. Say chipmunks, beaver dams, stunning views over the the Green Mountains and all with the accompaniment of Frost's poems. When you come out of the car park turn right and a short distance away is a turn to the left - Robert Frost Road, drive up there and you will find Homer Noble farmhouse, and then beyond up a green grassy lane walk up to find Frost's summer cabin - not normally open but very atmospheric and well worth the extra few steps.
This is a wonderful scenic trail offering a long trail for those who love hiking and a shorter rail for leisurely strolling
This is an easy trail to take children on. Stop and read the peoms he wrote while living there. I would recommend it for a Sunday walk. Autumn is especially nice with all of the beautiful colors mother nature gave us.
This trail offers the traveler an opportunity to experience the poems of Robert Frost as they were meant to be enjoyed. At a fork in the trail, there was a placard with "The Road Not Taken", adjacent to a birch tree was a poem on birches, overlooking the meadow was a poem on outdoor fields, and so on. It was well worth the visit.
We traveled through the trail on a cold November afternoon. My husband and I were the only people in the park. It was still very beautiful with the light dusting of snow. We were able to take some amazing photos along our hike. I'm sure its even more beautiful during the warmer months!
Just off scenic Rt 125E, this easy to walk 1.2 mile looped trail takes you past a beaver pond, over stream, up into woods, and through pastures; plaques with Frost poems are mounted along the trail and benches provide a place to sit and contemplate.
Drove from Burlington, beautiful scenic drive! Limited bathroom availability on the way. There is a rustic outdoor toilet at the start of the trail...as a woman it made me want to run away screaming but we made it work. Enough about that. The trail is gorgeous! Bits of poetry on signs here and there, markers identifying the plants. Easy to walk trails, you go through forest, an overgrown field, and alongside a rolling creek. We hiked for about 45 minutes and had to turn back for weather. It was incredible to see, and I'd highly recommend!
This is a very easy hike and good for adults and children. The paths look as if they are left to nature, but in fact seem well-maintained. The hike can take as long or as little time as you want. There are plenty of places to stop and admire nature in all its unspoiled beauty. We used to bring our children here and it seemed like a different experience every year, according to what age they were. There is ample parking, with more across the road if necessary. There is a cute country store going down the mountain from here, where you can get ice creams, drinks etc. One warning - this is a busy road so please be careful, especially with children!
