branbury state park

We spent Labor Day weekend at this park. It was a nice park. Very quiet in the night. Quiet hours are strictly enforced. Grasy sites but no privacy betwenn them on the lake side. We will be back.

The facilities are good and it's pretty, but I would like a little more privacy between camp sites.My wife and I were on a trip across VT, NH and ME. We had intended to stay a the forest service CG, but they were shut down because the government was out of money. We stayed two nights in Branbury in early October.The sites are not terribly well marked, though they are spacious. Basically large open areas with no divisions. I would like to have seen some trees for privacy. Fortunately, there were very few people in the campground. It was nice to have flush toilets, however, the drinking water does have an odd pale yellow tinge to it and it would have been nice to have some soap in the men's bathroom. The campground is staffed and was well kept up.I would say this is a nice place to camp. If I was in the area, I might also try one of the NF options; but I wouldn't hesitate to park it here.

We wanted to do some hiking while we were in Vermont so we decided to make our way here as we were staying close to Middlebury. The park was a little tricky to find, but we eventually made it there. We hiked up the first trail to see the Falls of Lana - which were pretty. Then we decided to take the Rattlesnake Cliffs trail (part of the Moosalamoo Rec Area). We didn't know how long the trail would go on for. The hike was pretty intense - uphil on a steep angle for pretty much the entire time we were hiking. We are occassional hikers - so we weren't equipped to handle the terrain. We decided to turn back after about 2 hours of hiking. Apparently, if you do finish - the trail ends on the cliffs and you are rewarded with beautiful views of Lake Dunmore.Check out this link for more info: http://www.moosalamoo.org/RattlesnakeandAuntJenny.aspThis would be a great hike to do the next time we are in town - we'll just be more prepared!

I have been to Branbury State Park many times when my children were little, and re-visiting it as a grandmother was a wonderful experience. In season, there is a camping ground, snack shack, bathrooms & changing rooms, and most of all the most fabulous beach. We had my grandson's 7th birthday party here - you can get group rates for such functions. The staff are really helpful and friendly!

Nice maintained beach and a large play area away from the beach. Plenty of picnic tables and grills for family gatherings.In the area is also an easy walk [across the road] is the Falls of Lana (A cascading waterfall 349 feet overall which is about 104 vertical feet), an open ledge for a view of Lake Dunmore and watch rock climbers in action, hike up for a higher view from Rattle Snake Cliffs (no rattle snakes), Hike to Silver Lake (no vehicles allowed) or find Ethan Allan Cave that the famous soldier used as an encampment along the military trail to crown point.

This Park is very well kept and perfect for families with small children as well as others. It has an excellent beach. Lake Dunmore is just right. There is easy access to super hiking/walks in the Moosalamoo National Recreation Area. It is great all summer and into the early Fall.

This park has an interesting thing to it: you can choose to be on the waterfront, or in the woods, and both sections are divided by a road (noise alert). That being said, I loved my stay here: green grass, plenty of quietness, good bathrooms with coin-op showers, lots of trees and many options for hiking/lake swimming. The staff for this year was great, and the park was greatly maintained. If you like to make fires and cook with them when you camp, there is great burning wood at the camp for a really reasonable price. Just make sure you bring a tarp in case it rains!

We rented multiple camping sites in this park to preserve or privacy and allow us to relax. Our sites were located on a dead end. We had 3 - 5 cars flying down this road daily almost hitting one of us, the dogs or the TENT (20 feet long and bright green).There is no management of the mountain side camping area whatsoever. The staff completely disappears after 6 pm. There is no gate so anyone can drive through the camp ground. There was no temperature control in the shower so the water issued at the temperature the heater was set to.This was the twentieth park we have camped in Vermont and while the area was beautiful the park was by far the worst. Terribly managed. Go to swim but don't stay.

We stayed on site 16. Nice and grassy! Clean restrooms and beach facilities. Open field was perfect for our two year old to run around in. I have been coming here with family for 25 years. It seems the park has a great 2012 staff and the park is well maintained and managed.

Very nice campsites along base of Mt. Moosalamo. Excellent trails/roads to mountain lakes and great views. Lake Dunmore is well developed summer resort only eight miles from modern stores.

Nice Park and a great place to see Fourth of July fireworksThe Park is on Lake Dunmore in Salisbury, VT. We stayed at site 16 which on the lake front side of the park. The sites are large enough but wide open with no privacy. I usually prefer parks with some space between campsites and some foliage. The park is split in to two sections and the other section has wooded campsites. Nice green open lawn and a small stretch of sand along the waterfront beach. The lake is clean and clear. Definitely bring you bug spray as Lake Dunmore has a well earned reputation as mosquito alley.For the night of the fourth we brought our lawn chairs down to the lake front and watch the locals put on their home grown firework displays all around the entire lake front. Very nice display and when it was all over a five minute walk back to the camper
