I brought my son here for his 5th birthday to make a teddy bear. What a memorable and fun experience!! I think I had as much fun as him! While we didn't take the tour of the factory since the production wasn't open the day we went(Saturday),we had a blast looking around the gift shop and making his own bear. The process of making your own teddy consists of picking a bear, kissing and wishing upon his felt heart that then gets placed inside, then an employee has you pick the stuffing you want him filled with like fun, love, hugs, etc, and then they stitch him up with you or your childs help! After the bear is all sewn up you make out a birth certificate for it. You can choose to dress your bear or not for an additional price, with many different outfits and props to pick from. The gift shop of already made bears is quite impressive as well. There are bears and outfits from the ceiling to the floor of any kind of bear you can imagine! Ranging from light colored to dark, big to small, and outfitted in anything you can think of like "Dr.", "punk rock",and even a nun!The place was clean, updated, and the staff was very helpful. The employee that assisted us helped in making it a very magical experience for my son by making him think that "jake the bear" was actually born. While the bears and outfits are pricey I feel it is justifable because there is a lifetime warranty and they are of good quality. I would highly recommend this place to everyone!
I ordered a teddy bear for my girlfriend and it was delivered as expected, with all the trimmings. We were both very pleased and she was extremely happy with the gift. The Teddy now lives in our master bedroom and it's a great addition to the house. Very large and very high quality.
My husband, myself, and our 7 month old daughter stopped here on Valentine's Day. My husband wanted to buy our daughter her first Valentine's teddy bear and where else to get it than Vermont Teddy Bear! The staff was extremely helpful and kind helping my husband pick out the perfect bear, bear outfit and accessories for his tiny valentine. It was a great experience for us and one we will always remember. Thank you.
Arriving at the Vermont Teddy Bear Company car park which is free, we noticed how colorfully the buildings and the pathways were decorated. We booked our tour and then looked around the large gift shop containing teddy bears in every kind of dress and different job uniforms and sports you could ever imagine. There were also brides and grooms, baby bears and large bears in every colour fur you could want.We lined up outside the door we were told to go to as the time of our tour approached. To our surprise we were the only two to take the 1 pm tour so had the guide to ourselves. It soon become clear as why the 1 pm tour was not taken by other visitors as it was lunch time so all production had stopped and the different operations of making the teddy bear was empty as all workers were at lunch in the canteen. Our guide did show us what each member of staff would do you help produce the finished teddy bear which was a plus point to his excellent customer service approach. They also have a Vermont bear hospital as every bear has its own birth certificate so if it is ever in an accident it can return to the hospital to be repaired so it leaves the hospital as good as the day it was born the guide explained to us. This hospital visit is offered throughout the life of the bear at a small cost we were told. The Vermont Teddy bear is so far not available in the UK which we feel is a great pity as it would be our first choice if it was as they really are put together with love we feel. Thanks for reading this John & Sue Webb Eastbourne UK
There isn't much to say about this place. We often visit here during the Thanksgiving weekend.I love to visit. Now that the children are older, it's not as special. If I had more money, I would buy a few teddy bears for the family. Lots of cute teddy bear accessories.PLEASE VISIT.
Took our kids and nephews to the VT Teddy Bear Factory to see how they were made. $4 for adults and kids 12 and under are free. Had a great tour guide Gigi, who made so many bad bear jokes it was fun. Gave us a history of the teddy bear. Took us through a quick 30 minute pitch of how the bears are made. Saw employees at different stations making parts for the bear replication. A lot of sewing machine and hands on work being done to craft these gems. Good sales pitch at the end that you're bear is basically guaranteed for life. At the end you'll be hard pressed not to buy either a make your own bear or buy one of the pre-made in their gift shops. Regular sized bear with outfit can run you anywhere from $70-90. Fortunately we had a 15% off coupon! The joy in my little girls eyes to have a VT Teddy Bear made it worth the visit and the purchase.
I drove an hour with my 10 year old daughter. We took the tour which was very reasonably priced, but it seemed staged. It was the weekend so no one was actually working, but not sure that is where they really work. The tour was cute and informative. The store is pretty small and the bears are super expensive. I was hoping to buy her a small bear for under $30, but all the bears were $50+ and outfits were expensive too.She didn't love one so we left without buying anything! I think it is a cute tour if you are in the area, but the bears are priced for collectors and I wouldn't go out of your way to travel there.
I recommend the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory to just about everybody. Who doesn't like teddy bears! That said, this is appropriate for anyone who enjoys learning about things, is open-minded, and does not have high expectations. Families with young kids will also enjoy it here. There is a nominal fee to take the factory tour. It lasts about 15 or 20 minutes. The guide starts by telling you a bit about the history of the teddy bear and how the company got its start. He will introduce you to each type of bear available and pass out the bears to "inspect". Then, the guide walks you through each phase of "construction" in building a bear. This is not rocket science so don't over expect here. Our guide tried to make things interactive and fun which is appreciated.Once finished, you are released back to the shopping area. There is a build a bear area that kids will enjoy. They can pick out a bear and get him stuffed on the spot. A nice benefit of shopping on site is personalization. We got bears for gifts and had the outfits embroidered in the store. You can do special order bears with personalization on the paws and different color eyes. Our personalized bear was made from scratch the day after we ordered him and shipped. Now that is service!Making stuffed bears is not an involved, difficult process. But the factory is still interesting and fun. Kids and adults alike will enjoy this happy place.
Okay, so I am a long time lover of Teddy Bears and have collected so many over the years. I have been a customer of VTB for years giving away many of their creations to friends, kids and grandkids. I finally had the opportunity to visit the "Birthplace of American Teddy Bears>' It was DELIGHTFUL...The tour is interesting and fun to learn how they are created. I was impressed with the exercise routines for the folks who make the bears. Congrats VTB very creative. Everyone was friendly, helpful and had smiles. I did purchase one of their new creations a VTB created to honor the American Legion. Being a 47 year member I had to have one of the Honey Bears with a Legion Cap. "Mickey" will take a special place in my collection. This is a fun place to tour and I had a great of smiles just watching the youngster of other guest smile and laugh. "Every loves a Teddy Bear, and no one cares how fat they are.!"
We're glad you and your kids enjoyed your visit and the playground is a GREAT idea! Thank you BEARy much for visiting and we hope you'll visit us again soon. Peace, Love & Teddy Bears, Laura
We drove awhile to get to this place while visiting in Vermont and new Hampshire. we were a little disappointed, there wasn't so much attraction wise or for children to do..it just had a few outfits and bears scattered everywhere, a little confusing.not very organized.but a cute place.my six year old was bored and didn't like it to much.
My husband and I took the tour and loved it! Our tour guide was very personable, knowledgeable and quite entertaining. I'd recommend this for anyone. The bears are very well-made and each has a lifetime guarantee!
I didn't actually think before going that my kids would give it such rave reviews. The tour was about 30 minutes long and geared toward both adults and kids. Its free for kids under 12 (?) and adults were a mere $4.00. The bears are definitely of quality but you will pay a pretty penny for them. We walked out with two bears and one outfit and it was almost $130.00. Be prepared to buy a bear, as it's virtually impossible to negotiate around that. They are cute and definitely much nicer than build-a-bear, but with a similar concept.
Was visiting my family in VT and was looking for a place to celebrate my daughter's birthday. VT Teddy Bear offered a reasonable rate which included a party room with table cloths and balloons as well as a visit from Ted the bear. Party also included a private factory tour and each child could make a bear, up to 7 kids. Additional kids cost $15 each. Party room held up to 30 people, and you have to bring your own food, drinks, and paper goods. Tour was a bit long for little ones, but was interactive and informative. Kids of all ages liked picking out a bear and helping stuff it. They hand sew it closed in front of you and give you a birth certificate for it. They were having a sale when we were there and my goddaughter got a giant 6' bear for $70 which is the normal price for some of their 15" jointed bears. Fun for all ages!
We decided to take a tour and were not disappointed. My husband wasn't as "in to it" as I was but he did have to admit that he really enjoyed the tour. We were both glad we made this stop on our trip through Vermont. Gigi, our tour guide, was excellent. I just wish our grandsons could have been there also. They would have loved it.The cashiers were so nice. Definite assets to the company.
