This review has two parts: one about the Inn at Trail's End as an inn, and another about the inn's Phoenecian Rejuvenation Center in particular. I'm a big fan of both. The Inn at Trail's End is convenient to the shops of Wilmington and several area ski slopes, while being set back enough into the woods that it is very much its own place. The setting is rustic, with a huge fieldstone fireplace in the commons area. The Smith family has taken great care in decorating and furnishing the rooms individually. We stayed once in a fireplace suite and another time in a regular double room. Each had its own distinctive charm. A hearty, home-cooked breakfast comes with the room (good muffins!). The pool out back looked inviting; we'll have to come back sometime in summer! The host family is a great asset to the place. Guests are really made to feel welcome. And then there's that Phoenecian Rejuvenation Center. . .I visited the Inn at Trail's End and took the package of spa treatments a dozen times over a seven-month period. With the welcoming, gracious, family-friendly environment the Smith family maintains, I found myself happily looking forward to each return visit.Over the months, I began to notice a significant improvement in my overall health and stamina. Longstanding problems with my knee and back went away and have not returned. In talking with the Smiths during these visits, I have learned a tremendous amount about how toxins affect many aspects of our health and how to improve health by removing them. Before coming to this spa, I had been researching issues of health and aging for years, and I had encountered so many contradictory recommendations from doctors, books, and websites, that I was feeling confused and helpless. The clear, informed vision behind the spa treatments and the Smiths' openness to discussing any aspect of it were a huge help in getting me on board, and the result has been a return to robust good health.
I am 41 years old and had a stroke in January, 2008. A few days after my discharge from the hospital, I started doing spa treatments (infrared sauna, laser, and ionic foot bath) at The Inn at Trails End Spa. Along with dietary changes, quality supplements, treatments, and great advice from JR and Lois, I have made a remarkable recovery! My doctors originally told me that I would have to take blood thinners (coumadin) for the rest of my life. However, after only two months they had me stop taking it! The spa treatments were an important factor in that decision. I am now off ALL pharmaceuticals, am able to participate in all my favorite physical activities and feeling better every day.Highly recommended!Quinton Carr
