Beautiful views and sites along the Ottaquechee River that will excite anyone driving by or visiting.
This is a long, wide river with small towns and villages along it. I particularly enjoyed visiting and photographing the bridges.
Very nice place to stop for a walk and stretch legs ,got some very good pictures of ravine , if it had been summer might have stayed longer and walked round the trails
It was misty but we went down to the dam, it was worth the walk - very easy!. Only problem was taking pictures on the bridge, Husband afraid of heights.
great place to take pictures.convenient parking. called the "little grand canyon". breath taking views on both sides of road.
Stopped to see the river on our way to Woodside from White River Junction. It was breathtaking with the Fall foilage along either side of the gorge! As luck would have it a beautiful hot air balloon sailed over the river and gorge, while we were there, which made it a perfect camera moment! Worth the stop.
gorgeous view from the bridge, is even better from the bottom. especially during the fall. it's only about a 10-15 min walk.
The river runs through the town of Woodstock. The colors of autumn is on display along its shores. The old wooden covered bridge over the river is so quaint.
It's a river that welcomes people to park the car on the road and jump in! If you don't see any easy access to the river, keep driving and you'll definitely find one!
Beautiful scenic river. View it from the covered bridge in Woodstock or from Quechee Gorge. Another lovely place to view the river is from the backyard of the Woodstock Historical Society.
This scenic gorge is beautiful in the rain, snow or sunshine. Watch for traffic while viewing the river from the bridge. A small shopping and antique store nearby completes the visit.
We followed this river for many miles and were delighted by its tranquillity as it passed through Woodstock and the neighbouring towns. We were especially fascinated by all the covered bridges; Taftsville etc, many of which were damaged in 2011 by Huricane Irene in 2011, but which have now been faithfully restored. A lovely, very attractive area.
There's something about the Ottaquechee River that gets under your skin - it is so merry, it skips and dances over the stones. You can drive along it for beautiful mile after beautiful mile. We just loved it to bits.
What a gorgeous area ! The gorge is fantastic, and the traffic controls allow people to come and go safely across the highway !Don't miss this if you're in the area !
After a couple year hiatus, my daughter and I visited our favorite flyfishing spots on the Ottaquechee. While still scenic from a distance, major storms and other factors have apparently taken their toll. The riparian zones seem bare, sediment covers the river bed and has greatly diminished insect activity. It feels like one is wading in a drainage ditch. Really sad.
