Something every town should have....a blackboard in the center of town with everything current listed on it. All local events are posted as well as special activities at local park facilities.

We arrived at Woodstock in the fall of 2012. It had rained all morning so we had barely discerned the foliage along the Laconia highway and the wonderful little village churches almost merged their white boarded frames and stubby pyramid topped towers with the grey misty woods behind them. T hen we drew into Woodstock soon after 1 p.m. The town is a lovely place set mostly round a sort of Village green. It has an old fashioned department store selling just about everything you need. It was doing a roaring trade in Umbrellas!!! My wife and I were soaked through before we'd gone 50 yards but we came across the wonderful covered bridge. It looked like it had been there since the days of the early settlers- even though this was New England that meant it could have been about 190 years old; because settlement in the forested interior was delayed until after c1790. In fact as we sheltered under the network of beams and cross struts that held up the close boarded roof, we noted the date 1983. As the river roared below us carrying the prodigious overnight rain away to the far off sea, it was clear to us that bridges like Woodstock's must have been swept away fairly often after the winter snow's melt. Up at the Flume Gorge we had seen a bridge with a date of a century ago and the style of its construction was identical to the one were were examining as our clothes dripped from soaking to moist. The covered bridges round Woodstock are true historic monuments to the settlers' skills. We looked around for Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep but we were the only ones sheltering under the Covered bridge of Woodstock that rainy day last Fall.

We had a great time walking through town and visiting all of the eclectic shops. Very friendly townspeople. Make sure that you follow the speed limits in the town limits.

Want to know where there is a church supper, an art exhibit or a square dance, just check this black board in the center of Woodstock that is updated to keep all events timely. the Center of Woodstock is lovely with old New England houses, a covered bridge, a fun mix of stores, lovely white lights in the winter and pretty flower boxes in the summer

Each December we attend the horse parade during the Christmas season. We love the gorgeous Belgian horses ,the small miniture ponies, the choral groups and the emphasis on the season as it might have been one hundred years ago. The New England charm rather than a western feel, highlights this event. Be sure and check the town crier for events of this type. During the afternoon choral groups fill the various churches with carols and holiday celebration. We have not missed a parade since 1995 .

There are so many different things to see in Woodstock. First of all the drive into the town is beautiful. There is limited parking so I can only imagine how difficult it must be in the summer months. There are shops and restaurants up and down both sides of a four block radius. Walking is the manner to see the town. Restaurants are expensive and not very varied menus. There is the Rockerfeller house to see and the Billings farms as well as other landmarks. Great old church in the middle of the town. I did not go in to see the hotels but they had a couple of them in the town square.

I love Woodstock first visited the village about 1979 ... Now I cannot help but visit every year as often as possible. One of my favorite tourist places. I love the Billings Farm, The good food served at the various cafes. The history not only of the natives but the fact that the hardware store and the Billings farm owners were also the parents of "Happy " Rockerfeller. So many historical things to know and enjoy. One of my favorite things is the Christmas parade that occurs two weeks before Christmas Everyone dresses in Christmas dress, fur coats etc, they bring out the horses and sleds and parade around the village square. What fun, especially when there is snow on the ground. I love it .... During the long winter months I love to stop by the Creamery for breakfast .... my husband loves their hash browns .... I love brunch with turkey soup and 1/2 sandwich . During the summer all the special activites at the farm and art shows around town, the Yankee Bookstore . We always find something we truly enjoy all year long.

A Woodstock tradition for many many years, updated with all kinds of local events- many of which are raising money for non profits

There is not too much to see but it is interesting given that this is part of New England's disappearing past. I hope Woodstock doesn't change as it is still charming and quaint!

The Saturday after Thanksgiving 2011, My husband and I drove here after spending the previous couple of days in Killington snowboarding. Killington is only about 20 miles away from Woodstock. We walked around the town, walked across the covered bridge, drank a maple flavored Latte and enjoyed the town. We also visited the Farmer's Market there which had really good sandwiches. They also had a really large general store that we had fun looking around in.

Interesting concept and charm; however, a lot of the information was not up to date; the other problem is that as a tourist more information would have been nice as to time; location, phone number etc.

This is just so cute. IT provides information for things happening in the area. Its on elm street just around the corner from route 4.
