Don't expect to spend hours here. They try to come up with new stuff to see and do but this is more an environmental educational stop for the kids for a couple of hours. After that they are searching for stuff to look at. It's always clean with pleasant staff. My only gripe is the cost for such a small place.
Nice place to visit with family and kids. You get to know a lot about the creatures living in the lake, and also know about the famous "champ". Very good experience. Completely recommended to visit if being in Burlington
The Echo Center is a wonderful place for families, our two girls have learned hands on science there from 2nd grade to 12th grades. I would say that half of our trips there are for the science and the other half have been business events, weddings, or big parties. Visitors to Burlington Vermont have many great destinations to experience, and events worth going to. The Burlington waterfront is beautiful throughout the year and we are lucky to have the Echo Center (as we call it). It does not take the whole day, just a part of it.
A place to spend time if you can't make up your mind wandering about town. Decent aquarium. Could have a little more but enough to catch my attention. Great if you have little children.
ECHO is an ever changing center always filled with excited and curious kids. The evening events for adults are a great addition. Annual memberships are affordable and a great idea for families with kids since the main events change.
Our family loved the exhibits and the outdoor observation deck was a great place to sit in the Adirondack Chairs and look at the beautiful view of Lake Champlain while having a coffee. Not a large or diverse amount if aquatic exhibits but still a nice family afternoon.
Went here on a day trip while exploring Burlington. The place is kid orientated however most of the exhibits are still interesting regardless of your age. Would definitley recommend and the best part was that once you got a ticket you can walk in and out of the place as much as you want all day!
We took our grandchildren and they had a ball. They learned a lot about the lake and the fish that are in it
We had a nice event at the ECHO Lake Aquarium. It could have been due to the fact that we were there after hours, but as far as I could tell, there wasn't much to the actual science center. It seems like a fairly basic set of exhibits centered around Lake Champlain.
This Museum is goog for the whole family, but specially the kids. They have different activitys and they change the exhibits from time to time. It gives a chance to inter react and learn about the history of the lake while been fun.
Had a great time there by myself. Lots of wildlife creatures I had only seen in books not being native to my region. Loved it. lots of hands-on experiments. Doesn't cost much, and if you have kids, please do not leave town without at least an afternoon at the aquarium, learning in a fun way is always better.
Dear Lorraine, We are delighted you found your way to ECHO and had a great time while here. We do wonder about your penguin comment since we do not have any penguins. Just the same, we appreciate the positive review and hope you come back to visit soon!Cheers, Gerianne SmartDirector of Marketing & Communications
As a lover of aquariums, I was really excited about my visit. However, I was in and out in 15 minutes. There were hardly any tanks with fish and everything was aimed at young children. I found the price for a adults quite expensive for what was actually there. They do good work there which I appreciate, but I wouldn't recommend it to other adults without children.
I never would have guessed that a lakeside aquarium would hold my children's attention for over two hours. We stopped here over the weekend as a rainy day activity. Lots of nice exhibits - particularly hands on exhibits. Information delivered in a child friendly way, volunteers eager to engage the kids, etc. We were pleasantly surpised at how much fun the kids had here. I would say this activity is best for 3-7 year olds.
Very interesting venue with well presented displays and plenty of hands on opportunities. We learned a lot about the formation of Lake Champlain and the marine life that it contains. This is not just for kids. We even had fun making a weather report on TV which we were able to email to our grandchildren! ECHO is definelty not to be missed!
