The skiing on marked trails and glades was fantastic in February and March especially the Nosedive woods!
Worth the extra money when conditions are awesome. Lift lines move quickly - check out spruce peak sensation area for smaller crowds and more sun.
The snow was excellent, the staff always helpful and friendly, no lift lines and as always the mountain wad challenging and fun.
Just been back after an absence of 16 year. Couldn't believe the change that's taken place in that time. There is now a huge hotel complex at the base of the mountain which is dark and overbearing. We nicknamed it Colditz. Not attractive! On the plus side this is a great place to learn to ski or snowboard. The instructors are really patient and encouraging. The gondola from the car park to the lodge at the bottom of the slopes is free and a wonderful idea. Never queued for any of the lifts even though it was quite busy. Terrain is as easy or as challenging as you want depending on which side of the mountain you go. Day pass for the lifts is quite expensive and don't hire equipment from the lodge, we went to Pinnacle Sports on the mountain road and got boards, boots and helmets at a much reduced rate. I would urge anyone to go there as the guys are brilliant whether you're a seasoned pro or complete novice.
The skiing was great and even though we were there during the February school break the lift lines were not very long. Nice conditions!
Our 6 year old daughter went to the Adventures Ski School for three days and progressed very well through the levels. Each of the instructors that my wife and I met were extremely friendly and clearly focused on skiing rather than arts & crafts as we have found at other children ski schools across New England. Great mountain trails, and very happy with the quality of the ski school program.
I recently came back to Stowe and was rewarded with great skiing, great snow conditions and a little frostbite. It was cold all over the east coast so that's no one's fault. I have skied at stowe in the 70's, 80's and now 2015. It is very familiar to me. Mt Mansfield hadn't changed much but spruce peak was unrecognizable with new lifts and a western style ski lodge. Overall great time. On a side note, TripAdvisor should consolidate reviews. There are 4 different selections for this resort; Mt Mansfield,Spruce Peak,Stowe Resort and Stowe Mountain Resort; They are the same attraction.
Loved Mount Mainsfield. Excellent skiing and even liked the food in their cafeteria! Lines were a little tough due to school vaca
Skied the front four and thoroughly enjoyed the challenges. Goat was a lot of fun. Hadn't been to the area in several years. I was very happy that the Mansfield lodge remains unchanged as well as the bulk of the trails. Food and drink are expensive.
Gorgeous setting, great grooming, friendly staff at lift tic area, great "hosts" on the hills who skied with us down the hills. Gondola is awesome. Disliked: lift tic expensive, hike up hill or ~30 steps just to get to main lift area, gift shop items look nice from a distance but are on wall behind counter where you cannot look at them, the one area with a lot of green hills has an excruciatingly long and slow lift that will about kill you in cold weather, no matter how well you are dressed.
Stowe in general is by far the best ski resort in the eastern US. Mansfield has the big thrill front four runs as well as plenty of runs for the intermediate skier. Even newer skiers can take the Forerunner Quad up to the Octagon Cafe' and then enjoy a nice run down on Toll Road. This mountain is usually less crowded too, which is a bonus.
Stowe is by far the best ski area in the East. It offers all levels of terrain for the family in an area which is well connected and easy to navigate. Excellent facilities
Mt. Mansfield is steep, with long runs. Can get crazy weather. That's why they also offer Spruce Peak, much more family-friendly, always groomed, lessons, kids camp, and beautiful lodge as nice as anything you'll find "out west." The two distinct mountains are connected by a surface gondola. Even if you're riding Mansfield, I recommend parking at the Spruce Peak side and taking the gondola over. Mansfield is old school, lots of stair climbing and hoofin' your gear. Spruce Peak is for family fun.
Overal skied for three days after New Years. The mountain skied well . The e card work great. The mountain food was very good. My only beef, got to the top of the gondola only to find out the e card nor Credit cards are not accepted at the waffle station. Suggestions / improvements 1. Groom the runs better. 2. Add people movers from the base lodge up to where the lifts are located. Everyone complains about that step climb up. 3. Add the waffle hut onto the E card. 4. Better train the lift attendants to be more responsive at the end of the day. A few seats were turned up causing a huge issue at loading. 5. Tell the Stowe mtn lodge to contact me about their awful hotel restaurants. Finally. One of favorite ski areas in the world. Loved the ski school at Stowe especially DJ. He taught my kids in one day.
Skied over the New Years holiday at Stowe. Enjoyed the restaurants, particularly Plate.Après skiing at the lodge was disappointing with young children allowed to sit at the bar.Choose another venue if you want a better atmosphere.
