Some of the best skiing I've ever had. With 5 peaks there are more trails than one person could ride in a single day. Whether you like the leisurely ski or bomb the hill there is something for you. At most places if you bomb the hill your run lasts only a couple minutes. At Killington (when on the right trail) it'll last 10 minutes or more. The terrain parks are like no other. The large park (stash I believe) was closed while we were there but the park in ramshead was perfect size for intermediate skilled jumpers. The jumps were not too large and it also included a nice mixture of rails as well. We will be returning for years to come (multiple times a year if possible!)
We skied here for 2 days in March. Easy access to all runs via chairlifts and gondolas. Nice varied choice of terrain. First day was great as warmer and softer snow so tons of great mogul runs for us to enjoy. Second day, everything frozen so we stuck to groomers. Resort did a great job of grooming lots of runt s to get rid of the ice that formed from the thaw/freeze. Still prefer skiing out west (on a normal snow year - this year out west has a drought) but we would definitely come back to Killington.
Our family ski and snowboard. We found everything we needed here, awesome ski school for kids with amazing staff like Dave playing the ukulele for kids. My son loved it! I had fun snowboarding at the Neffland snow park, great for beginners. Had awesome instructors- thanks to my Aussie guy Tod and my dude rider Johnny. We loved our launch at the Mountain Peak Lodge with dramatic views and delicious and fresh meals. Conditions for skiers and snowboarders fantastic. Everyone will find a slope for their comfort zone. Great for families. They even have a daycare for babies! Love it!
There are other resorts up and down the East coast - we all know - but the Beast of the East is a dependable, great place to ski. There are good conditions here from December to April - and the customer service, lodge, and terrain really can't be beat.
What a great place to ski, long slopes, great snow and great après ski make the days here superb. Would definitely recommend this ski area , you won't be disappointed.
We like going to Killington cause it's only 2.5 hours drive from Boston. We like parking at the Valet parking in Snowshed, it's $25 and you can call 5 minutes before you head down the mountain and they bring your car and turn your heater on. It's perfect if you don't like walking the whole parking lot with your ski boots on and carrying your skies. The K1 lodge has live music most days for lunch and on. The bar is vibrant. The trails can get a bit icy, so watch out.
The terrain is fantastic. The snow was great. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Definitely one of the best resorts on the East Coast.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Meet the mtn. tour given by the ski ambassador (Glenn). I enjoyed the tour so much, I ended up doing it twice. When I 1st arrived to Killington, I felt overwhelmed and stressed because I was a beginner skier, I was on my own and was afraid of getting lost or got on a wrong trail.... I’d have to say, the meet the mtn tour relieved my stress and anxieity tremendously. Best of all, 1) the supposedly 75 mins. “meet the mountain" tour became a 3.5 hours tour at free of charge, 2) free hot chocolate, 3) tour guide (ski ambassador) served as a photographer + videographer, shared with us the photos and videos he took afterwards. This was my best ski trip experience!Overall, I was very impressed by the hospitality of the staff at Killington ski resort, their knowledge about the mtn. and trials, their passion about the sport (ski and snowboarding). It is not as commercialized as I thought it would be. What struck me the most was, staff are not expecting tips or gratitudes by serving you, they are genuinely want to help you, from helping you to carry your gears, to direct you to the right ski lifts or bag check areas….. Staff are very hospitable and go out of their way to make sure you will enjoy this place (as much as they do). I know I made a right decision to come to Killington for my 1st ski vacation, I know I will be making this as my annual tradition to visit Killington from now on.
First time skier! My husband and I booked and paid for five days of ski lessons. Instructor never taught me how to slow down or stop. Second day after three bad falls, took out a garage can and bruised ribs! I am not sure the instructor wanted me to learn, just wanted to cash in on five days of lessons! Not happy!
We are avid skiers spent almost every weekend ski across east coast. Went to Killington twice last year. The resort offers a wide variety of trails for different skiers and we took great advantage of all of them. The facility and food court are decent with no complaints. I wish I can say the same about the rental offices. We rented boots from Snowshed last season, two male workers appeared to be less than willing to assist us with boots rental and fitting, they pretended they were busy doing nothing while waiting for their busy peers to wait on us. That was last year, we thought it was an isolated incident. Didn't give much thoughts to it. We went to the resort 4 times this season. We experience similar issues with this particular attendant in Ramshead baselodge. A month ago, we were in line in the rental office for buying lift and rental tickets waiting for our turn to be assisted. She look at us and appeared to be busy with the terminal while there's a long line waiting. Immediately after we were assisted by another attendant, she immediately wait on the people behind us. Again, we gave her the benefit of the doubt. Fast forward to yesterday a Friday morning with literally no one in line except one customer being helped in front of us by another girl. The same attendant from a month ago saw us and looked down immediately. She walked away from her terminal, did a round passed by the water cooler to ensure it's working, then went to the forms area to inspect new rental forms. She basically did a lap around us while we were waiting. That's not a coincidence. We are clean, low-keyed, and reasonable paying customers that do not expect red carpet treatment, but for the amount of money we spent on the resort, all we want was to be greeted properly and waited on. A little common courtesy goes a long way. These immature attendants can definitely use some customer service training. They need to understand skin color, profiles and physical features of customers don't pay for their hourly wages, customer satisfaction is what really matters.
If your looking to take a lesson from someone who knows his stuff, Larry Schneider did a great job with our advanced skiing group.
I will start off by saying that I am a very low level skier and learned to ski in california / colorado. It's important to know this because I like to stick to green and blue trails and because west coast skiing is totally different (softer snow and warmer days on the mountain). I went to killington on a group day trip after a fresh snowfall and I had a blast! The staff was friendly and the lift lines were short. After skiing greens for half the day I decided to try a blue. Well I found the blue trails a lot more challenging than I've ever skied before. This was not very enjoyable for me because the trail was downhill all the way with little opportunity to take a break, unless you fall. I prefer a challenge that isn't so stressful. There wasn't a lot of options on the green trails so I got bored after a while and the trails either became icy or full of mounds due to the amount of skiers passing through from the more challenging runs. This is a great place for a more experienced skier but I would opt to go to Jay Peak for a more novice option. I do like killingtons concierge services on the mountain, if you get turned around on the trails they have staff members on the mountain to help you navigate your way down. The ski shop was great and decently priced and they have a free bag check. I packed my lunch but I did check out the food court which has your typical cafeteria type food. The bar is situated in the perfect spot to watch skiers come down the mountain and they had live music entertainment early in the afternoon. At the end of the day, the trip was great and the skiing challenging.
Killington is a great mountain to visit! The nightlife is probably the best out of all East Coast resort areas.Only downfall is flat trails. If you are a snowboarder traversing different peaks, there is a very good chance you will have to unstrap the really flat parts. Sometimes the energy used to do this just ruins my day. Also, plenty of Gluten Free food options at all the restaurants I've dined at on mountain!
Spent 2.5 days exploring Killington. Really enjoyed the mountain. However, still a good number of older slow (non-detachable) chairs with no leg rests, in key areas. Also, the grooming seemed a little haphazard - not for a lack of snow. I understand this is a very large area, but it still seems to me that they could have done a better job ensuring that all the snow was better distributed and the numerous icy runs were attended to.Main gondola broke down the last day making access to Killington Peak difficult.Well laid out (kids lessons on Ramshead, aduly lesson on Snowshed - with easy access between them), but needs some investment. Updated lifts and lodges would certainly help.
got tickets at a ski expo, glad I did my friend paid 90 for his and a half day is about 83. overall a good time, was crowded on the lift, but it was a saturday.
