Although the beach wasn't well kept, the view of Lake Erie was breathtaking. I loved walking along the rocks and looking at the lighthouse and across the lake imagining that Canada was on the other side. Very peaceful.

I love to come and walk on the break wall. I like to see the lake frozen in the winter. Nice play area if you have kids and a large beach area for summertime.

Nothing shocking or over the top, just a nice little public beach. I did get some really nice shot during the winter of the frozen tundra and light house. Lots of rocks and sea glass to pick from as well for the treasure hunters.

Visited there in October 2014. Weather was cool and very windy, but we had a good time exploring the beach, and my youngest daughter loved the playground. Will definitely come back in the summer!

Walnut Beach is and has always been my most favorite beach in Ohio. As a kid growing up, I was there every day in the summer. In the winter, looking out over Lake Erie is awesome...cold but awesome. I love the beach.

This is a very nice beach. And the best part of it is, it seems to always be a lot less crowded than lakeshore parks beach (It's also huge compared to that other beach). If you're going to Ashtabula and looking for a good beach that isn't overly crowded, then this is the place for you!

Pleased to report improved conditions over the disaster that we found here in the summer of 2013! The ladies restrooms were finally open and functioning-new stalls and plumbing. There were no signs for the men's room-a local pointed out which one of several doors lead to the men's room, a bit confusing! It still needed updating; hopefully this will be on the drawing board for 2015. The concession stand was operating and doing a decent business. A short walk to the beach was pleasant. The building could still use some more renovations and the weeds need removed around the building, but this was a huge improvement over last year!

Loved walking along this beach watching people hunt beach glass. Such an expansive body of water - hard to believe it's a LAKE!

I have been here all seasons since 1968. I love this beach and will return at least yearly while alive.

There was a concession stand open and not many people at the beach as it was early June. We strolled along the beach. The place looks a little dated but still a fun place to go and piddle around the beach.

Nice place to walk your dogs and very clean beach. You can tell they do a good job cleaning this place!

Nice beach during summer and seems mostly clean too. In winter beautiful view point to check out the ice and frozen lake. (pics below)

One of the finest sand beaches on Lake Erie, with recreation areas and beautiful dunes. Great beach glass hunting. The City of Ashtabula is working on a plan to renovate the facilities.

I visited on July 21, 2013 (Sunday). Concession stand was boarded up; restrooms closed. One chemical toilet was available near the concession stand. It was dirty, loaded with trash and had no toilet paper. There was no drinking or wash water available. Lifeguards went off duty at 4:00 p.m. The only people who come are the locals, and they stay for a couple of hours and then leave. The beach had some trash on it. It looks as if the city of Ashtabula has run out of money to staff or maintain the park. Do not go there unless you bring your own water and toilet paper. Sad that such a pretty location on Lake Erie has gotten so run down. Go west 6 miles to Geneva State Park Beach and have a much better time!

if you are into sea glass, this can be a great source. check it out in the early Morning. the beach holds so many treasures and unique finds, bring something to carry your finds home.
