This historic mansion in Barnesville, OH is a hidden gem that anyone into Victorian history must see. It is a 26 room mansion of the Romanesque style built between the years of 1888 and 1893. The Belmont County Historical Society has done a meticulous job of restoring and furnishing a vision in splendor of days gone by. Each time we visit this mansion I love it even more. Today we attended their Christmas tea and then toured each room decorated for Christmas in period style. The guide and board member is extremely knowledgeable in Victorian history and his enthusiasm is contagious for all things of the past. The furnishings in this mansion are exquisite from turtle top marble tables, stunning period lighting and everything in between not to mention the clock room on the third floor right off the ballroom. Treat yourself to a trip to Barnesville where you will be delighted to step back in time to a very elegant period of gilded splendor and amazing woodwork.
