Just right for you wine lovers who enjoy a family atmosphere and a great variety of different wines to taste and choose from!
What an enjoyable experience! We dropped in mid-day during the week and sampled six different wines. Jim, the owner of the winery and winemaker, is very friendly, proud of his handy work and more than willing to answer questions. We left with three bottles of wine and will be back for more. Highly recommend a visit if you are in the area!
Very friendly owners, relaxing atmosphere, good local band playing. Had wine on premises you could purchase. A bit skimpy on food offerings.
Whenever my husband and I go on vacations we try to find wineries to visit. Usually the local wineries are not very impressive, but we were pleasantly surprised by Brandeberry Winery. Between my husband and I we tried 10 wines and we enjoyed the majority of them. My favorites were the Vidal Semi-dry and the Syrah. Although lacking in the usual vineyard view on the exterior, the interior had the same feeling as a high end winery. We would visit again.
This was our first visit to the winery. We stopped on a Saturday evening and there was a group playing music outside. Unfortunately the group was loud enough that normal conversation was impossible. I would have preferred the music to be the background and not the show. We tried a flight of their premium wines at $1.50 a taste along with a very good meat and cheese tray for $8.00. We liked a couple of the wines so we took two bottles (about $20 each) home with us. The grounds are quiet and pleasant but while decorated and clean, the tasting room lacks atmosphere since it is just the end of new construction barn. We’ll be back to try some of their other wines.
On our little weekend getaway we stopped here. It's a very pleasant and friendly place. Not fancy but a nice place. We thought the $17 a bottle was maybe slightly high but for the most part an average price for an Ohio winery.
I've been meaning to check out this vineyard and did so recently. Several of the wines that I tasted were good with a price tag per bottle of about $20. Priced a little high for Ohio wine, but still nice to have it in the Buckeye state. The venue is a pole barn style building, so not a place that you'd want to hold an event. The staff really didn't share a lot of info about the wine as we sampled. We had to ask questions and then it's very clear they wanted a tip for the service (signs and pointed to on the machine when you pay). This was the first time that I experienced so little info and requests for tips based on my experience in Ohio, VA or Napa, CA.
Every time I go back home there is this sign stating Brandeberry Winery 2.6 miles from the main road US 68 so this time I went to this Mecca among the corn. The drive is between corn and soy bean fields up and over a few hills and there you are up on the hill. Walk in the front door and met by the wine maker himself and he's glad to help you decide on a sample to aid your purchase or pay for a tasting, I sampled a few after talking with him. There were a hand full of people tasting and buying. It's the first place that advertizes to bring your steaks, grill out and let them bring the wine to you. Now that I meandered down that road I will be back on my next trip.
