The Phoenix Course has several pros and cons. If you enjoy a links-style course, this is a great layout. The greens offer a good challenge, but it is a very "playable" course for intermediate and advanced players. I would not recommend going on Saturday morning. It is a public course and is very busy with an extremely slow pace of play. You may notice a strange smell in the air because the course is built on an old landfill and not far from a new one. In addition, there are processing plants nearby that also produce unpleasant odors. This spring, the sandtraps were not well-maintained and contained rock and mud. THere was also a very limited selection for lunch in the snack bar early this spring. Hopefully they have worked to improve the condition of the traps and the choice of lunch items. However, the greens were in good condition for early spring play in Ohio. The staff was extremely friendly and very accomodating of our requests. There are some nice views of the Columbus skyline from the course.

This is a great Links course in Grove City - which is now under new management - 17 and 18 are gorgeous holes and not as easy as you would think. The cost is very reasonable - all and all a really great experience - I would recommend this course to anyone!

Usually a great links course, but it is in terrible shape. I used to think it was literally one of the best links style courses in the US. My British friend brags about the first 16 holes, but now it is in such disrepair, it is not worth the time.

Phoenix is a fun golf course in pretty decent shape. It was built on a trash dump so there are no trees on most of the course. The view of downtown Columbus is great. One of it's problems is that the marshals do not marshal and so the pace of play can be pretty slow - painfully slow sometimes. The 17th hole goes down to the clubhouse and then 18 goes away so it is a long walk back. Not such a problem if you are riding.

This course is a very nice links style course and is fun to play. It's more challenging than the other flat Columbus area courses. If the wind is up (and it usually is) it's more difficult.

I've lived in Columbus my whole life and golf quite a bit during the golf season. I've been to nice country clubs to golf as well as budget city courses. I've golfed at at least 50 different Columbus area golf courses and I have to say, this is the worst one in the city. I've been here twice and I don't know why I went back for a second time because my first experience was bad as well. The course - It's a wide open Links style course. The actual layout of the course isn't bad. In fact, the 17th and 18th holes are pretty nice. The problem with the course itself is the up keep. Pools of stagnant water and sludge are seen everywhere throughout this course. Also, the fairways and greens remind me more of carpet than grass. If they were simply rolled out it would make a world of difference but I couldn't use an iron in the fairway without taking a square foot out of the ground. Make sure you don't hit anywhere near the long grass because they just let that grow. In some areas, the grass is waist high so if you hit your ball in there, its gone. The facilities - the clubhouse isn't bad, but the pro shop offers the bare minimums. My biggest problem actually happened when our golf cart died on the 12th hole. I have never in my life experienced a cart dying. This is especially frustrating because it wasn't an overly busy day. I called the clubhouse and it took 45 minutes for them to bring us a new cart. It really put hamper on our round of golf. I had just sunk a birdie putt on the 12th and didn't even want to play anymore after waiting 45 minutes for a new cart. The service - We decided to call it quits after waiting so long for the cart. We went to the clubhouse to speak to the manager about possibly getting a rain check for 9 since it was obviously their fault the cart died. This was an opportunity for him to make things right by either fulfilling our request, or even giving us a free round. It wouldn't have cost the course any money. Instead he said he would only give us a prorated discount for the 6 remaining holes we had left if we wanted to come back and buy a new green fee. I told him to keep his prorated discount, I won't be back.Don't go here, even if you're looking for a budget course. Go to Raymond Memorial, a city course that has similar rates and is much nicer than this place.

Nice links course escpecially if it's windy then you get the true links experience. Great view of downtown columbus. Play them in spring or erly summer before the greens turn really hard!

This is the place to go in the fall when the leaves are dropping. They only have trees on one hole, so losing balls in the fairway isn't a problem here. Not the prettiest course around (it is an old dump) but it's a fine example of land reclaimation. Hit the Links!

We had an extra hour when passing through Ohio, and found this golf course to hit balls in preparation for our round the next day. It is off the beaten track, and the drive up does not look promising at all. However, as you go up the rise to the parking lot you're greeted with a panoramic view of the Columbus, OH skyline. Then your eyes wander down to the start of the golf course in front of you and you can't wait to take off down the fairway. The rolling links look inviting and in good condition. We wished that we had time to play a round. The driving range was in superb condition - we hit off immaculate turf.
