Oh goodness, where and how to start with this one. My husband and I went on a double date with my cousins to Hinckley to do the paddle boats on their little lake. It was a typical Saturday afternoon. The park is beautiful, and quite large for the area. Roads seem well maintained and there are a lot of trails, which is awesome. Not so awesome? First, the bathrooms. Holy Toledo. I think they should be condemned. Granted, I suppose it's better than going in the woods, but seriously--not much better. Second, it was a minor disaster to rent paddle boats. There were not enough paddle boats, which, whatever. It is what it is. But the staff were all quite rude. After a wait, they gave us our life vests and the whole safety talk, only to be told that we should get our money back, because the boats weren't available. WHAT? We literally JUST got to the water's edge. We asked if we could just wait a few minutes and the kid was really antsy to have us cancel and get a refund. Boats came back, but the numbers didn't match. Anyway, it was just a pain in the buttinski. Very disorganized.
Hinckley reservation allows people to swim, boat, hike, climb the spectacular Whips Ledges, and trail ride with horses. The walking and bridle paths are pristine, mostly wooded, and really beautiful. In the springtime there is a festival to celebrate the return of the famous Turkey Vultures. They can be seen gliding in the area with grace. They have a 6ft. wingspan and are quite a sight.
Great place for boating, hiking, or rock climbing. You can rent kayaks, canoes, row boats, and paddle boards at the boat house. Find great hikes throughout the reservation, or go rock climbing at Whipps ledges. You need your own climbing equipment and you have to have proof of insurance. Great place to spend a day with your family.
a great hike around the lake, you can rent canoe, paddle boat, fishing boat, food options are not good ,,, there is no restaurant and very limited in the store, or at put put place, you have to bring snacks
A very nice lake park atmosphere for the whole family. The area below the dam provides swimming and creek like wading during the summer. Above the dam is good lake fishing for catfish, panfish and pike. The boat livery has several types of boats for rent.during the summer. If you like to walk, try a hike around the lake. Located a very short distance away is Whip Ledges. Climbing and walking around huge rocks was a lot of fun.
There is a nice 3-mile walking trail with lots of up and down-hill. Nice covered picnic areas. The lake offers good spots to watch birds--wading and swimming birds and cedar waxwings.
We've been here many times and it really is a beautiful area. The lake is big and the trail around it provides great viewing opportunities and great exercise. The Whipp's Ledges area is popular for hikers and climbers and is often crowded on weekends and nice-weather days. For an even cooler experience, and without as many people, make sure you check out the Worden's Ledges Loop Trail. The ledges are beautiful and unique, and the carvings are stunning. We like this area more than Whipp's Ledges. Maybe not as big or as tall, but definitely more unique and special. It's a short trail to Worden's Ledges and it is well worth it! Get out and enjoy our parks!
This is a great places to bring the kiddos. They have a dam as you can see in the pictures, there is a swimming area with lifeguard at the bottom of the dam. They have paddle boats and canoes that you can rent. There are a bunch of different paths through the woods and around the lake. you can bring your own food and BBQ.
It's a nice place to kill a summer day if you're nearby. It's not great enough to make if worth much of a trip. Large reservoir for fishing with a walking trail, and below the damn is a spillway where kids swim (with a lifeguard normally). I used to stop with my 3 year old daughter and we'd take off our shoes and roll up our pants and look for crayfish under the rocks in the stream down from the spillway. There's a building with ice cream, drinks and restrooms next to the spillway. If you live in Medina or Summit County then take your younger children - they will love it.
This is a great Metropark. Nice long areas to walk on paved paths, or hike on rougher terrain. The lake area is nice.
this is actually a great park to go all seasons of the year. hiking, swimming and picnics...what more could you want.
I have always been a fan of the Hinckley reservation. Whipps legedges offers rappelling and beautiful rock formations and hiking. The lake is a great fishing spot. When its summer you can enjoy cooling down in their swimming area.
This part of our par system is best known for its huge lake and the ledges. This is the place to go if you like hiking and fishing. As long as you dont bring any beer wine ect you will be fine .Big fines for drinking in all our park sytems.
