I bought a Groupon for "A Four Mile Kayak Trip for Four People" for $45 (about half the usual price). We checked in at the entrance and were issued life jackets. There was a port-a-john there. We then parked at the designated location near the river. There are picnic tables here for your use before or after your trip. We were then taken by van to a spot about 4 miles upriver where they have canoes and kayaks ready. We were given kayaks and paddles and spent about 3 hours very leisurely traveling back to where we had parked. This is very suitable for beginners, as the river is very slow and calm (unless there has just been a significant rainfall). If your arms get tired, you can mostly just drift. If you are looking for excitement, this isn't the place for you. This is more about just enjoying the scenery and being on the water.There are lots of places along the route where you can pull your kayak out of the water and picnic. Just make sure you pack your food in a completely waterproof container. The kayaks have large cup holders like in most cars so if you bring water bottles, don't get the skinny ones as they won't stay put very well.When getting a kayak, be sure that the foot rests are in place and that you can adjust them to your liking, as this makes things much more comfortable. Be sure to get a paddle with the yellow curved tips, as they are much lighter and more efficient than the ones with the flat orange tips.
