This is a pleasant area to unwind and enjoy the waters of the Maumee River. their are many areas that offer picnic facilities and places to enjoy a game of whatever, It is seldom overcrowded so one can find their solitude.
Went with the family to walk and sightsee. Wildlife everywhere and clean trails made for an awesome trip. Have been back several times while working in the area. Nice place.
Located on River Rd. in Maumee, Ohio. Side Cut Park is cut in half by River Road. There is the side that is by the Maumee River. That side has a playground and a walking trail by the river. The other side has the locks that once were used by ships when this area of the country was first being settled. There is also a sledding hill on the lock side if you want to visit in the winter. I like going to the park with my family to walk on the trails. There is no charge to enter. Plenty of parking on both sides. The river side does get a bit crowded in the summer, because people come here to fish.
Wonderful park for all sorts of activities. Less crowded than many of the other parks in the system. The trails are well-suited for short or long walks - fractional mile to 4.1 miles. River and hills scenery as well as diverse bird viewing and many, many deer. Many spots for family picnicking and seasonal activities such as sledding and river fishing. You can't go wrong with Sidecut Metropark!
This is a wonderful little gem right along the river. Lots of wildlife and senic views. Perfect for the urban nature lover and photographer alike.
We found this park by accident on our way back from Fallen Timbers and decided to come back the following day. It is a nice area to BBQ and set up for a few hours but on this particular day we just had a walk and took some photos. Being from the UK it was nice to see deer which are beautiful to watch and I even saw a beaver which was right by the road. I think it would be nice for the road to have a cycle lane or a bike route to take around the park but its a nice day out and a new park for us to grill at.
Glad it still has the woods and outdoors feel. Not cultured and prim like a lot of parks, you actually feel like you are spending time in nature, its a good visit if you go. Take some lunch and have a picnic there, fun and very very relaxing!!
It's a nice little bit of countryside and a great place for a walk or a run. If you need a place to exercise or just want to get outside for a bit, this place is for you.
We took my daughter here when we visited family in Maumee. Park is very clean, lots of trails and playgrounds for big and small kids. Open fields to run around in and no evidence of trash or glass to look out for. Enjoyed our visit!
We loved this park until we looked at our dog and she had about 30 tricks on her ( and we treat her). It was so bad we said something to the ranger and he said he knew they were that bad! We ended up shaving her to find about 10 more ticks! Thank goodness it was before they got in her skin! We will never be back!! If they knew they were that bad they should have put up signs ! Great place for adults keep pets at home!
This is a nice place to take short walks, fish in the lake or river and enjoy the outdoors. We really enjoyed seeing the old canal locks in the park and the "bird blind" on one of the trails where you could see many Ohio birds. There are picnic tables around the park too so maybe next time we will bring along a sandwich.
This is a peaceful spot to enjoy the river and the area surrounding. The area is kept clean and trimmed. There are picnic areas and places to fish. In the winter, the park offers a fantastic sledding hill. There is also a place to ice skate and a fire ring to help keep everyone warm.
If you don't see deer here, you aren't looking. I think we have seen up the 50 deer here at one time. They are in bush areas hidden a lot but also along the towpath, in the back yards and along the river. This park is very popular year round because there is a play area for the kids, picnic areas, hiking, sledding, fishing & bird watching. The trail along the river gets very muddy at times but it is the old canal area. You can also see the old locks and visit the Lamb Center. There is also a bird viewing area within the area. In March or April, you will see the Walleye fisherman dot the waters hoping for a catch in the spring run. Always a good time at the city parks.
Great park to relax my the Maumee River and see spectacular views and wildlife. Deer are abundant with birds circling the rivers many rapids.
We stopped at Side Cut Metro Park on our way out of Michigan. Family of four (2 boys-7,11) We saw the sledding hill so we turned in to check it out. No one was around but a large fire was burning in the pit. We were lucky enough to find a broken but usuable sled to sled ride down the hill. We had so much fun! Maumee River was completely frozen. It was quite a sight to see.
