Go to the Outlet first, see what peaks your interest and note the prices and variety. Then go to the "main" store around the corner (which has a huge variety of holiday items) and again make a list of what you like, and the prices. Then go back to the Outlet, and you'll probably save some money. At either place, you'll probably find what you like, and be sure to read the history of how the business came about. The candles are long-burning and I didn't find the scents overwhelming.There is free parking in the area--but the holiday period is probably madness, so go early before the tour busses--and Medina has a variety of other charming places to visit, eat and shop (see "Castle Noel", Cool Beans and other reviews). I can only imagine how much craziness there must be at Root the "after Christmas" sale!

My husband had a sales meeting out of state a few weeks ago. As a thank you, he wanted to purchase each of the employees a gift basket from our local Root candles! The staff was so helpful and kind, they provided us with the perfect "cappuccino" themed baskets! Thank you Root candles for making the "BEST" candle that we are always proud to give as gifts! We will ALWAYS support local business and especially one that also gives back so much to their community! Thank you Root candles and all the employees, I am proud to shop at your store !

I went here looking for some local items to give as gifts to a family hosting my daughter in another country. Sadly, other than the candles, most items were made in China. I also had a lot of trouble getting help. Despite there being plenty of employees, they were more interested in each other than in helping customers. And for crying out loud, why do retail businesses let their employees chew gum when they are running a register? I am really sorry; I am a big supporter of local and independent businesses, so was looking forward to a positive experience, but this wasn't it, so I won't go back.

Root Candle has been producing candles in America since 1869 BUT they are much more than just a candle maker. The building is beautiful and all items are well displayed. I enjoy just browsing this store and enjoying the sights, sounds, and SMELLS. No matter what time of the year you visit holiday items are plentiful and beautifully displayed, of course there is a large selection of candles and candle deco to choose from. You can spend hours just walking through the store looking for a unique gift. The gourmet food and café area also includes tasting tables with a variety of items. Awesome high end accessories, furniture, foods, gifts and of course CANDLES. Be sure to visit the outlet store on the side of the main building for some great deals. After your tour of Root Candle head to the nearby Corkscrew Saloon for a wonderful lunch or head downtown, park your car and stroll around the square area. Lots of fun shops and restaurants to enjoy there as well.

Root Candles is historically interesting. Be sure to pick up the brochure that tells you about the history. It's a very large gift and candle shop. The candles are made on site. It would be a very good place to look for ideas for tablescapes for a bridal shower or reception. However, if you are new to the area, don't try walking from the town square. The sign needs to be changed to tell you the distance.

Candles less expensive if you go around outside on the left and to the back of the building. They don't have all the same ones but good place to start.

I always love going to Root Candle Company. It smells wonderful with all the scented candles. It is located in a historic building from the 1800's. Root is a Medina icon that helped put the city on the map. Root candles are not cheap because they are quality candles that burn slow and evenly. If you don't mind "seconds" there is an outlet center behind the main retail store. Most of the candles in the outlet store burn just as nice but might not be as pretty and perfect.

I love this store. So many wonderful gift items, its a huge store. The candles are great too. Go on the side of the building in the back and there is the clearance store. They have the best prices there.

The front and fancy stores rival anything you'd find in fancy San Francisco, but forgreat deals, try the back building to fill your cart. I even buy bulk wax for a few bucksto make my own candles. They also have bee keeping supplies. An awesome and interestingcompany. I generally bring out of town visitors here and they all "love it".

We visited both the outlet store and the gift shop. The prices in the outlet store are about half of what they are in the gift shop, and the candles are fine--just minor blemishes. I mean, you're going to burn it anyway, right? The upstairs of the gift shop was getting decorated for Christmas, and I can only imagine what it will look like when they are done. Beautiful old buildings and very nice staff. The gift shop also has a little cafe and lots of gourmet food items that are yummy. Definitely worth a visit to Medina.

Root Candles is in the coolest old building and is decorated so awesomely! Be sure to visit the outlet store on the side of the main building for some great deals. Medina is the honey capital of the world!

Very lovely shop, cannot describe all of the various scents from all of the candles and products. There are many items to peruse and explore.
